I know it’s not allowed to mail ammunition via USPS. I’m sure it happens though. Does anyone have any experience either receiving or sending ammo with Priority Mail?

Won't do it, ever.
FedEx has a program, and they pick up the ammo from you.

Kind of agree, why even ask this question unless you’re thinking about doing it? And if you are, why in the world would you consider this given the HUGE downside and tiny upside? You’d risk prison over $10-20 and the hassle of going to a UPS depot?

I’m not considering, just asking. Well, you seem to be asking a very specific question. Here is the experience that happens. If the shipper and receiver are not caught, the recipient receives the mail and the uses the ammo. But that isn't what you are asking about, is it? You want to hear about somebody's legal troubles for getting caught. Am I right?

So, asking out of ignorance here, is it illegal to mail ammo person to person at all or just when usps? Do places like midway USA for example have a special pass or do they use someone like fedex or ups?
Never ordered ammo online so just curious how that works for them.

Perfectly legal for FedEx and UPS. Needs to be properly marked, and go Ground shipment only.

Perfectly legal via UPS or fed ex ground. I know it is illegal for individuals to ship ammo via usps but I think it may be legal for FFL holders to ship ammo via usps. They have some goofy rules. I try to avoid them wherever possible and just use ups or fed ex for anything whether it is gun related or not.
