I can pick up either 6 boxes of Hornady 139gr interlock or federal 140 gr Nosler solid base. I’m new to the 7mm-08 world. Rifle is a standard Ruger American and will be used mainly for whitetail but may try a few exotics.

I’ve shot both bullets in 30 cal, and both perform excellent.. I’d probably go with which one has the best brass because I’d reload it.. nosler/lapua brass is first class, I’d favor the hornady brass over federal personally.

I had one of the early Standards, it favored the 120s over the 140s. Any way you can shoot some of either before you buy it all?

Nosler solid base was pre Ballistic Tip. Must be some old ammo which isn’t a bad thing. Interlock and Solid base are both great hunting bullets.

I don't know but unless you have to pay outrageous prices, I bet you can get your money back on the one you don't want to keep. My money would be on the Fed. Premium as the best shooter.

For the win, buy all 12 and hurry up before it's gone.

OK, my opinion. You win with either. Both are good bullets. Keep it in 200 yds and any shooter that has average to better skills will take a deer. I prefer the Hornady 139 but that's a personal choice in my observation of terminal ballistics (and I'm no 'ballistician').

I also agree Hornady brass over Federal, but the difference for me doesn't show up in accuracy, but in how long I can reload before they don't pass inspection any longer. Right now with the price and availability of ammo and components, all the types of brass I own will last a lifetime because I use a pellet gun for trigger time. They don't get used a lot right now. So, I limit my range when hunting game animals to make up for the lack of practical practice.

Congrats, you'll love this cartridge.

I’d buy both but if I could only buy one, it’d be Federal Premium

Buy one of each and see which one shoots better.
