Anyone shot a Winchester SX4? Seems to have the best price at about $900ish compared to basically all the other semis.
Is the Benelli SBE3 worth the extra $800?
How about an M2 even though it only shoots 3".
Browning?

Best bang for you $$$'s is the Beretta A300. Winchester SX4's aren't bad either.

What turkey gun is tapped for a red dot sight? Or has a rail?
That Benelli is nice. Can you put a red dot on it?

Yes you can. The receiver is tapped. I’m not going to do so though since it’s a double duty gun.

I was struggling with this same decision a month or so ago. What I “knew” I wanted wasn’t what I ended up buying. After a lot of research, handling different shotguns, etc.. I ended up buying a new M2 in Optifade Timber. The very first shot I fired through it brought down a large gadwall drake.

Good choice, I’m sure you’ll love your SBE.

The only M2 I could find in stock to handle had a compact stock. I would have been very happy with an M2 as well!

Here’s mine

My Beretta 391 Extrema has served me well for 18 years and has been dropped in more ponds/lakes/the coast than I care to remember.

I hear this a lot. Why people dropping their guns so much? I’ve hunted a long time and never dropped any gun in the water.

FWIW ... I've never dropped one in the water...but have had to use the shotgun's butt as a paddle More Times than I care to talk about... and Yes you can paddle a boat with a Franchi O/U from the Hwy 380 bridge south past the sand islands on old Lake Dallas back to dry ground ... in the dark.

Funny thing that this thread has just popped up. I just sold a NIB 870 base model I'd bought 5 years ago and never got it out of the box except to install the magazine's plug couple weeks ago and am looking at getting a gas operated 12 gauge of some sort at way less $'s than the Benelli Black Something an old hunting pard of 40+ years brags about....at $1700+.

Looked at Academy's web site yesterday until I got confused over what was what....and what was available Right NOW or when I want to buy it some time soon before the Better Half robs my wallet of my play money anytime soon to buy her latest Best Deal Ever on a piece of antique furniture. Then I looked at Grab a Gun for the same thing and still got no clear choice based on what was in stock, picked out and what if anything was actually in stock.

I'd like stay at around +/- $600'ishbut could handle a little more if need be, and NOT hung up on only using wood stocks on a shotgun anymore. At my age, I'll use this last utility shotgun for Dove, bunnies, squirrel's & skunks, and mebbe Ducks & Turkeys. Still got the Pre War single shot Savage for a "house gun" for snakes and unpleasant people who won't stop trying my patience with their Sales Pitch on my front porch.... My New Bride wife was given our 1st Christmas right after we got married 53 years ago by my grandfather. I have prepped it back to use ability but it is so old that it does not have a SR #....

Any suggestions anybody? Ain't got time left to jack with warranty issues or any kind of tuning needed with this last shooter.
Ron

The Benelli is inertia not gas. I looked at a Beretta A300 yesterday that’s a gas gun and It was about $800 I think if that’s in your price range. Really nice gun.

I'm going to Tyler sometime in the next couple days, and will stop in at Academy, and mebbe the shop downtown too if there is time... We go right by Porters in Hwy 155 at Lake Palestine but never got that warm welcome feeling from Porter's in the past.
Anybody shop the gun store in Forney? I'm at Rusty's picking up auction stuff we've bought 4-5 times a month, or some months more than that.

In the 600 dollar range, I’d look at an A300 or Stoeger m3000 or m3500

Pass on the Stoeger and look at Franchi. My wife has one and it’s a very good gun

Re: cya guns ? dunno who that is.
Back in my days of repping SG's, 1st for Schoellkopf and later as a regional rep for Stoeger, there were only 2 shops in Tyler then, Richard "Mac" McBride and Bob Reynolds. I understand that Mac has passed and his son Marc, has taken papa's "Mac" moniker....and they are still downtown just south of the square & across the street from the fire station.

I did get into Academy yesterday for about 45 minutes. Talked to a knowledgeable older guy most of the time rather than the kids behind the counter that my 50+/- sons could be their daddy. Talk about feeling OLLLLD !

Looked at a Turkish built Stoeger @ $600 ...meh but probably functionally doable , and a couple Beretta's @ $800 & up in 3 1/2" . Definite upgrade in the fit & feel of the Beretta stuff across the Line. No Winchesters on the rack, or any other brands at any price point...and the beat goes on looking for my last deal on shotgun.

There’s a new Winchester sx4 in the classifieds now. He wants $1000 I think which is a little high. But might be able to offer less.

Any body see any SX4's in the Terrell /Mesquite end of town I can look at? If we get lucky and win some stuff on Rusty's humongeous auction tonite I'll be up from Palestine for pick up in a day or so.

FYI There is a very old very good looking ummm mebbe PreWar Remington 20 gauge plain barrel full choke pump gun in Rusty's auction tonite that ought to go for $500++ and some broken mixed lot's of ammo too.

Spent most of the rainy day today surfing Cabellas all over the country. Somebody on here mentioned a Tristar as a potential good to go shooter...Cabella's got lots of them scattered all over ...and pay the freight when you buy one, shipping to either the dealer of your choice or your local Cabella/BPS retailer. Saw a couple SAKO's at bargain prices too...tempting too tempting. Gonna make do with the 4 rifles on hand.
I think I'm gonna try and stretch the budget and buy a 20 gauge something as a walking bird & bunny shooter and a 12 gauge 3" something for waterfowl & turkey and try and not break the bank doing it .....OR ....buy sumthin more better suited for a 1 gun do all, since I sold the last NIB 870 bargain basement quality shotgun couple months ago and am starting over. Had owned mebbe a dozen or more 870's
and just could not fade the Express series quality wise. Sure wish I could afford some of the better lookin' collectors grade stuff I've seen today...oh well...gonna pay cash and not put anything on any of the CC's this time.
Ron

Congrats on the new Benelli. Does this mean you're setup to do the New Hope charity tournament with me next month? We can be the SBE3 team smile

Hahaha I forgot about that. I really don’t have much interest in getting destroyed in that tournament. Never shot anything trap or clays or anything like that

Most do not care. We shoot to support what Dave and his wife are doing. I am serious. We know who wins it and it is just for fun. Seriosly come play. It is fun and I never shot clays before 3 years ago either.
