In the market for a UTV. Need seating for 4 people (wife and kids) and I'm tired of lifting hogs and other heavy animals by myself. I was looking at 2 general set-ups: (1) A Honda Pioneer 1000-5 with a front loading hoist (like the Ox Rack). Or (2) Kawasaki Mule Pro-FXT with a bed wench like bowduploaders.com. Does anyone have experience with either set up?

I have one similar to the bowduploader but it’s built into the headache rack on my Ranger. Pulls them right up into the tilted bed and the weight of the deer lowers the bed. Very easy and got me out of a jam on a 200+# Arkansas deer that I never would have been able to load by myself. The bowdup works the same just from a lower point. I think it would do everything you need it to.

I have a Mule Pro-FXT and did it the poor man's way. Put one of these on the headache rack on the passenger side. Tilt the bed, hook it to the head and winch it up, Tilt it back down and swing the rear in. You could add one to the other side as well if you didn't want to do any lifting at all.

I can handle half a big deer, just not all of one.

My winch is bolted on vs. using the hanger that comes with it.

Check out the hitch hoist from Monarch. Fits a 2" receiver. Really quality hoist, more so than some of their other products.

If i remember to haul it to the lease, I stick a hitch hauler on the back of my canam defender. It makes it to where you only have to lift the animal about 18" off the ground, rather than into the bed. Then I dont have to mess with a winch or any other business. When not needed, just pull it off and lean it against the side of the house.

Scored the Game Winner version of these at Academy a few years ago for @ $60.

They've been great. Don't have to lift the game very high and keeps blood out of the bed.

Game Rack

I believe Academy discontinued them but there are deals to be had, similar to the link I posted.

If you are on flat land then a simple game rack will work. If any hills/draws/inclines etc the rack can get caught or worse. If I am hunting by myself, I carry a receiver hoist winch with gambrel in the bed of the Mahindra. Most have settings that allow you to swing your game over the tailgate and right into the bed of UTV.

I use a receiver hitch winch with a gambrel too. Got it at Sportsmans Guide years ago. I'll put the gambrel through the back legs and winch up enough to field dress, then swing it around and into the bed of the truck. Such a back saver.

Mule is a lot more comfortable for 4 people.

I dumped bed, tied head to corner of Head rack, then tilt it back.

Bucees used to carry a nice receiver mounted game hoist w/winch. It was rated for about 250lbs. Second the Mule Pro.

Went with a drill powered wench and a D ring on my Teryx. Also useful for other tasks.

I sure wouldn’t be able to focus on anything else if I had a wench in my bed.

This is my setup. Harbor Freight winch and I mounted a roller fairlead on the Yutrax ATV/UTV trailer. Also have the Monarch game hoist (which swivels), so you swing your game into your truck bed.
Works slicker than snot.

This was along the line that I was thinking of, but wanted an electric winch. I have a barn and a skinning pad with overhead hoist to do the gutting/cleaning. We shoot hogs and female aoudad a lot for management, so there are animals that I just want to transport to the dump pile. Several people suggested a hitch game hoist - I think they missed the point that I just want something permanent. So, I can use it when I want and I don't even think about it when I don't.

I usually just drag pigs. Have only used this set up for deer, and don't load but 4-5 per year and usually only 1 or 2 of those am I alone and use this. Works well and didn't have to deal with the hassle of running the wires for something I'd hardly ever use. Your usage may be different.

These are 2 done on mules....one is homemade and one is store bought. The first one is a custom made aluminum game carrier with a winch. It lifts the deer up[ and you guide onto the carrier as you let out the cable. It has an extra support that you can put in to lift larger bodied animals. that is added from the top rail to the bottom where the carrier is mounted into the front bumper Sorry about the second one pic, but it is a folding rack that works off a winch. It lowers to the ground and you can drag a deer(up to 3 capacity) onto the rack on the ground. Then winch it up and it rolls into the level rack.

Not sure where you live but I can build a bad daddy receiver hoist for whatever you buy. I’ll do it for the cost of materials if your interested so long as I can build it in my spare time. Or a hitch carrier like this one but build the removable hoist into the carrier. [Linked Image]

You guys are bad for my wallet. I just bought a cargo bed winch along with a bunch of other chit that I didn't really need but they are nice to haves.

Never need it till you need it and then it’s worth 3 times as much roflmao We buried the 1000 and I’d given a fortune to have a winch which I’d never had one stuck before. Now it has a 5500 pound Warn Axon on it that’s never been used with another 100’ of braided line but by god if I get stuck again I can get it out lol

I hear ya! That said, I already had a winch on the front so I wasn't going to have disasters. This cargo bed winch is purely a nice to have rather than a need to have

I have a pioneer 1000-3 with a winch on the front. I take the winch and throw it over the top and connect it to the animal and then raise it into the bed. [Linked Image]
