Starter is good
Batteries are good
Grounds are good

What else should I try to figure out why my tractor won't crank over?

How did you verify the components are good? ( have to ask this because i've dealt with people who say "oh that battery is good", just because it reads 12.6 volts, yet voltage dropped like a rock when load tested)
Did you remove the starter and have it tested?
Did you have the batteries load tested?
Could be something causing an excess load on the engine maybe. heck, even a battery cable that is corroded or can't carry the amperage.
If you can get help have some one check battery voltage while you're cranking it.

Sounds like you need a new starter. Its drawing way too many amps. It is just as cheap to buy a new one these days as it is to have one rebuilt.

Side question: What happens if you hook your truck up to jump it off?

Pull start it to get it running then figure it out.
Sounds like the battery is shot to me.

I got the same exact tractor, if the temp is below 55 it will do what yours is doing. Above 55 it cranks over like a new one. Just nature of the beast with the old deere's.

Side note... if you pull start it, put it in 3rd gear so that the tires don’t skid.

Like others have said, it sounds like a weak battery or your starter is shot.

Something is amiss, like others have said that battery sure doesnt sound strong to me.

Just a little story, but I replaced the alternator on our old Duramax. I took it out and put it back in 3 times... it tested good at 2 O'rileys and an autozone before it failed the tester. Replaced it and all was good again.

Second thought, is the battery rated for the application? The manual will give you min CCA etc.

Severe cold prolly 'finished off' battery(s) - especially if they are more than a few years old.

Sounds like your battery is weak plus that thick oil will make any engine turn over slow or not at all in the weather we just had.

Batteries are good, starter is good

Alternator needs some work but batteries were charged so it's not the alternator.

I checked all the grounds

Still nothing

I think it may be a bad cable from battery to starter?

Have had this happen on a couple different tractors. Had one that the battery tested good at full charge, but still had a dead cell, swap a good battery and that should take that probability out of the loop.

One tractor got like this about every 2 years and it was usually the ground connection on the frame, once iirc, it was the post on the battery . The ground point on the frame seems to be an issue with the one tractor, new battery and it still would have a bit of effort to roll her over. I'd pull those connections, sand them clean, add some silicon grease and reassemble.

Double check the battery and the cables, if the electrical system is really all good, there is another problem not electrical.

Those Deere had/have issues with the hydraulic pump stroking on startup and loading the starter down. Some came with de stroke valves, and some didn’t. Try moving the steering wheel left and right while cranking, it will sometimes relieve enough flow to help it turn over.

If you have one bat that is crap it will draw off good battery. The parts stores don't use a good heavy load tester they use one that reads a percentage. Either you have a bad connection
bat pos or ground or a junk battery.

If it won’t crank at all, could it be that the problem is the ignition switch? I’ve had that happen.

Otherwise, just do what any normal repair shop would do, and throw parts at it (replace everything).

Use your jumper cable to go straight to the starter to see if it cranks any better. Clip the negative on the starter case or bolt and then touch the positive to the starter side of the solenoid. That will eliminate it being any wiring or solenoid issues.
