I was able to renew this afternoon at 9.2 cents for 24 months. My old rate was 8.4 cents per kWh. This weekend I was quoted 10.5 Just a roll of the dice given the market right now and what action the state may take in the coming weeks. This rate doesn't include another 4.2723 cents per kWh in transmission/delivery charges paid to Centerpoint, which increased from 3.4485 cents per kWh in my old contract. You have to read the details of your contract to identify the delivery charges. I get a $35 credit if I use over 1000 kWh, and a $15 credit if I use over 2000 kWh, which is the same incentive in my old contract. After taking a close look at all the numbers between my old and new contracts and applying them to my old bills, I'm expecting my new bills to increase somewhere between $10-15 per month.

You never know when you're being told the truth but the rep I spoke with today told me new customers are now being offered 50 cents per kWh on a month-to-month. After reading the earlier comment that Constellation isn't going offer new customers contracted service until March 1, it seems the company is trying to cover their tail for the time being with the 50 cents per kWh on a month-to-month basis. Or better yet, perhaps they know the severe bind that variable rate buyers are in right now in trying to find someone to sell them electricity at a decent rate. It's going to be interesting to see what ALL the providers are going to charge new customers. Who knows, like the cable and satellite providers, they might end up getting a better deal than existing customers.

Yep, I try to explain to them at renewal that a customer is a customer why does it matter if I am current or new. Of course I know the answer. It only takes a few customers to sign up at their first offer or go month to month for them to make hefty profits.

We're on a co-op that pays a couple 300 bucks in dividends every year so I guess it's a good deal but we mainly stick with them for stellar service and friendly folks since '87...I have no idea if there's cheaper options for us but I hope everybody works a good deal with their providers...

It's a situation that warrants review of using automatic bill payments after seeing how Griddy customers had their bank accounts hit for outrageous amounts.

I renewed Monday with TXU Energy for 8.9 cents per kw plus 3% a month back

I use energy ogre. Got my electric Bill yesterday 111 dollars.

My last bill from Constellation Energy cost me $53 and some change. Gas heating, cooking, water heating, and clothes drying.

It's the water bill that I might need to get lubed and ready. Still, I'm sure it'll be far less than pipe damage.
