I've always hunted with Remington Core-Lokt ammo in all of my rifles.
I'm not having any luck finding Remington Core-Lokt 150gr and really hate to change.

I have found some Winchester Super X 150gr.
If you hunt with or you've hunted with Winchester Super X ammo can you please give me your thoughts.

I have used SuperX PowerPoints in my .270 for over 40 years now for deer and other mid-sized game. It has never let me down.

.243 Winchester 100 gr. Power Points work great on deer and hogs.

Cheap bullet, inexpensive load compared to their premium line

People have only killed around a million or so deer with them.....

Interesting tidbit.....Milo Hansen shot the world record typical whitetail with a .308 power point bullet fired from a Model 88 Winchester rifle

I shot Super X Silver Tips in 130 grain out of my Ruger #1 .270 back in the early 90's when ever I could not get Remington 130 grain. They actually both shot very well from that rifle.

Do you still have the no.1?

No I sold it to buy a new Remington 700 BDL .270 back in 2004. I bought it back in 1983 or 84 for $275 with a 3x9 scope, 1.5 boxes of 130 grain ammo, Torel sling and Black Sheep hard case off of an guy who had gotten laid off right before Christmas. Sold the rifle only for $325 when the ranch I managed wanted 3 position safety and bolt open on any rifle I had with me when I was guiding hunters.. so I traded it in. Hated that I did that now since it was a very accurate rifle with regular ammo.

I've always used Super X in my 30-30. Never a problem. Wish I could find some now.

Winchester 125-grain, Deer Season XP ammo offers identical ballistic performance in my Savage Model 110 6.5 Creedmoor as Hornady's 143-grain, ELD-X ammo and costs a lot less. One of the best moves I ever made was to build up a ten box supply when it was running just $20 a box.

I’ve shot 100gr Remington core lokt, Winchester super x and federal powershok all interchangeably thru the 243. All hold pretty good pattern and it’s close enough for me I’ll generally buy and use any of the three with the same confidence in the field.
Lately, federal powershoks are easiest to find out of the three, and it’s still difficult.

I've found this to be true with all the more longstanding and most common calibers, which makes sense if you think about it. Ammo makers have had plenty of time and/or experience to fine tune their loads for optimum performance. It's the newer calibers that seem to shoot different loads all over the place, relatively speaking of course. My .270 and 30-30 rifles seem to like whatever loads I send down the barrel.

As hard as ammo is to come by, I’d buy what you can get unless you reload.

Thanks, Billy

Unfortunately I don't reload, but I was fortunate enough to find a couple boxes of Winchester Super X at Academy up

In my opinion, Winchester is second only to Hornady in ammo quality. I much prefer it over Remington.
Adios,
