That’s a ridiculous price, Lithium battery’s are really expensive but you could buy a lithium battery from a solar site and a 2,000 watt inverter for way less than that thing costs.

I was not aware until recently that generator lock-out plates are available for making whole house connections to a portable backup generator. They're really nothing more than a metal plate that fits over the front panel of your breaker panel so that the main line and breaker for your generator cannot be turned on at the same time. And most importantly, they offer a code approved method to directly connect a generator to your home without the cost and labor to install a transfer switch.

You’ll need DP 30 breaker (for most applications) wired into your panel at the top, lock-out plate, some wire and an RV style receptacle in a weatherproof box mounted wherever you want outside. $150 in parts (depending on how much wire) and probably $300 labor for a basic install.

What I had put in when they built this new house. Flip one breaker looking switch and comes off the Main 200 amp panel and goes to a sub panel for the essentials. Makes sure the linemen don't get lit up if they grab something on the poles. Also have one of these (Magnum ME2512 2500W, 12V Inverter/Charger) in the barn if you wanna try and design your own.

What are you powering that inverter with?

What are you powering that inverter with? All I use them for are to charge cordless batteries on a job site, anything more than that and their worthless. In a survival situation they are completely useless.

I was talking about the Magnum inverter. They are very useful for large loads with large battery power behind them.
I was asking Glens what is in his barn to power it.
