It’s pretty simple....
Do you own a pair of white sunglasses? Do you wear flat billed hats? Do you have a manbun? Do you own a white belt? Does your truck have the Cali lean? Do you leave karts in the parking lots versus putting them where they go?
If you answered no to all the questions above...then you can buy a 7-08. Yes to any of those and you would fit in much better with the Creedmoor club. This has me cracking up I'm honored to qualify though. We’d be glad to have you, you might check back in before you buy though because the committee meets every once in a while and will periodically add requirements into the 7-08 club. Seriously, as much as it pains me to say...if you don’t reload and as popular as the prs guys have made it with the tv/YouTube hunters ammo is available....then the Creedmoor is the best option. If you get to wait until you reload to get a 7-08, just go ahead and just get the Ackley Improved version and you’ll be mobetter.

I have both. I'd pick the Creed if I was shooting factory ammo. The 143 ELD-X will outperform any bullet you can get in factory 7-08 ammo. Follow up question - what is your preferred factory ammo out of the 6.5 for whitetail and pigs? The two loads I have looked at is the 140 gr Accubond and 140 grain Federal Fusion for a slightly cheaper round. Hornady Precision Hunter with a 143 ELD-X (my preferred bullet) shoots great out of 3 of my Creeds My handloads with the same bullet shoot excellent and about 100 fps faster than the factory loads. Those are what I hunt whitetails, mule deer and hogs with. I shoot Hornady Superformance with 129 SST in my 16" Creed for the extra velocity and it's been hell on hogs too.
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

FWIW I've seen Judd wearing white Oakleys I "borrowed" those from David Maas' truck...he has them back now. That SOB left his White flat brim in my deer blind I got that hat as a gift from Barney...I couldn't say no...so it was left accidently on purpose. You can have it DM. He drives a jacked up 4 door jeep, uses a step stool to get in it and would have a man bun if he had the hair. He doesn't go to grocery store anymore because he used a basket to get into his jeep when he forgot his stool, now he has it delivered via a phone app..... You know germs and all... BOBO is just mad cuz he's still replacing tooth fillings from his truck beating them loose. It's all good. We're here for you little buddy. If that's the case, I'll take a handle of Smithworks, couple limes and a box of Topo lime please. How else do you think posts like mine are originated? Judd goes hard in the paint and then speaks the truth. I cant stand him but he speaks the truth I hate you too. ****Seriously...these types of Creedmoor leg humper posts come up so frequent, I had to try to make it "fun and entertaining". The only caliber rifle I ever regretted selling was the 7-08.
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

7-08 is great but I really like my 300wsm. You get a 30 cal with wide range of bullets and reloading possibilities in a short action. I load 165-168 gr bullets. Have taken everything from pronghorn to cow bison, including deer and elk. I bet 150 gr bullets would reach put pretty well with less recoil although I do not find it a hard recoiling caliber with my 165 gr loads.
Have to admit though the 7-08 is hard to beat for your wants.

7mm-08 does the absolute most work with a bullet no mass production ammo maker loads. And I prefer said load over most 6.5 Creedmoor loads.
6.5 Creedmoor will do really well with many choices of mass produced ammo. That is the main point of its' existence. It's been explained many times, but here it is again. The .260 Rem can be the ballistic twin. But Remington dropped the ball with their ammo selection, and never supported the cartridge properly. Hornady invented the 6.5 Creedmoor and properly supported it with ammo, and ammo that works. That is why it has been so successful.
As a hand loader, I don't care about factory ammo. But, most hunters are not hand loaders, so the 6.5 Creedmoor makes good sense.

This. All things being equal once we get past the ammo shortage, it’s the most versatile of the three. We are obviously the smart ones on the forum.

No I’m not. I know he asked for short action. But I figured his main reason seemed to be less recoil. I suggest the 06 since he already has 06 ammo. The Kimber he has weighs 5.5#s or so and the Bergara around 7.5#. That two pounds would tame the recoil some. If you just insist on a short action then I guess I’d say the .308. Maybe you could find some cheaper ammo in the future.

This is my farthest deer kill with the Creed and 143 ELDs so far. This muley buck was big. Easily 275 lbs. I shot him in the shoulder at 480 yards with the wind howling. The impact was within an inch of my POA and passed through the buck with a nasty exit wound. He dropped like a sack of Judds.
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

I did not notice your questionable sunglasses and style of hat got brought up. Had I known that my screen name would not work right now and I am thankful.

For a non-loader, 6.5 CM is the way to go. It’s one of the few calibers I’ve been able to find in the last two years. Just picked up a couple more boxes of Hornady 143 ELD-X last week.
