If in your area talk with Smith Thompson or maybe try SimpliSafe. It's more of a DIY kit but looks straight forward.

ADT sux for sure!

We’ve been pleased with Vivint, not sure if they provide where you are.

We have ADT on the house and the shops and went with a local installer for our video systems.

I also have Simplisafe in my shop and at home. That system is incredibly flexible so I can alarm my shed, my gun/ammo room, CO sensors, etc. each with different parameters.

I would figure out a better way to record or identify the bad guy after the fact with cameras. Lock your gates, out swinging storm door, lock your door to your house from your garage , get a dog. Save $40 a month

We have a Ring system and are happy with it. Yearly fee is only $100 I think. All of the cost is the hardware, but you can buy however many cameras or sensors you want.

Hard to tell you to pull the trigger on $1400 of chit when I don’t know the product or the company

I haven’t forgot about you, I’m learning of a product that might fit your hood

I appreciate the responses, I’ve been on the phone with a few people today and will not post exactly what I do for obvious reasons.

Don’t know why I never put a lock on my gate

Bad guy enters house
Alarm takes 1 minute to trigger
Alarm triggers and calls into monitoring company ( however long that takes)
Monitoring company calls the police dispatch, within that minute the dispatch notifies an officer
Officer takes 3-12 minutes of travel ( guess for your part of the world)
Your chit got took, who done it?
Homeowner gets mad at Officer because that’s what people do because the alarm is supposed to save them and stuff
Officer ask if there is any surveillance to ID the bad guy. ( most videos look like a 1982 porn movie because the cameras suck)
Homeowner tells Officer they watch CSI, cops, and Live PD and are pretty much an expert
Officer takes report
Homeowner gets pissed again When the detective calls them because they never wrote down a serial number or don’t have the correct property insurance for guns, jewelry, and tools

I work for a large security company and suggest getting a good camera set up, hardwired if you can that way your not relying on wifi to save or view the cameras. I like a monitored security system mainly to let me know something has happened and to wake me up at night. Also having a monitored security system lets you have a time line to view your cameras. All in all nothing will stop someone if they want something.

Or if you have a properly setup system...alarm goes off in 30 seconds and only if you hit the right door, otherwise it is instant. Last time it went off I missed the call and by the next minute I called back the police were on the way. Have 5 cameras that produce HD video with a 30 day record cycle. Oh and smoke alarm and CO2 detectors are hooked into the alarm. Probably could get a water sensor as well.

Will it prevent a smash and grab? Nope. Will they get anything without being noticed? Definitely not. Does it make me feel safer when I’m away? 100%. Does it replace a pistol in the bedside table? Nope but I’ll have good advanced warning if some DA breaks in.

Guess it’s kinda like having car insurance, when you need it it helps. Oh and I get a home owners insurance discount as well.

I don’t think it’s worth the extra pay for company to monitor the system. Install a do it yourself alarm and have loud [censored] siren. That will scare the burglar away. Have several cameras also.

ADT is very fast. The alarm trips instantaneously. They are on the phone with me in less than 30 seconds. They tell me which part of the alarm trips and I make the decision to call the police or call my neighbor with a gun if I am not home.

One time I accidentally set off my alarm as I was leaving. I didn't hear it or hear my phone ring. The police stopped me before I left my drive way. They had 2 patrol cars.
