Somebody help me understand why lever actions have become so highly priced. A couple of years ago you could not give them away, now they are 12-1800 . I know everything is worth a bit more these days but dang. What am I missing?

I dont know if I would call them "collectable" as a whole, but they are dang sure more sought after just due to the overall quality. This same thing happend to the Model 94 when Winchester closed its doors. Then when people realized that there were more than enough 94's out there to go around the prices came back down to earth. I remember $299 birch wood 94's bringing a grand for a short while. It was silly and I think we are seeing that to an extent with JM Marlins.

Couple that with the overall gun market for the last year, and prices are higher than ever.

I have a few but they were always used for backups or a beater truck gun... not nearly as good as a bolt action. Revolvers are nutz as well

I don’t know about the common lever guns, but the one I want starts at $2895 and after I get finished specing it out it’s north of $3500

My bet is, Ruger will not let us down. Out of all that Ruger has produced, the ONLY negative I've got is some of their M77 triggers. Dang good American gun company.

it's nostalgia
If I were to give up all my rifles
The falling blocks single shots and all my lever will stay with me
Ruger No. 1
1885 1895
22LR, .357, 44 mag, PPC, 45-70
All Winchesters lever from .22LR/M - 30-30, 30-06, and everything in between
yes, for some of us, the mechanical contraptions of levers and falling/rolling blocks just feels like good old underwear

The reason is because many hold more rounds than a removable magazine on most rifles and do not fall under magazine restrictions lots of people are afraid are coming.
Pass the gravy.

In truth they are harder and more costly to build than a bolt action. Cost of building them has risen a lot in the last 20 years.

In 1993, Biden (then a Delaware senator) working on the Brady Bill and Kamala in 2010, as California's Attorney General seemed to overlook lever guns with tubular magazines when it came to their "naughty guns" lists.

There lates design is pretty good and a huge improvement. Ruger is a pretty amazing gun company with some very legendary designs in both handguns and rifles.
