Anyone have a good source for rock out in E Texas? Our driveway suffered a bunch of damage and I’m probably going to need 4-5 12 yard loads to get it back to even somewhat acceptable.

If anyone has any leads on someone reasonable I’d appreciate it. Don’t need someone to spread - just need the material.

Something you might consider. Put crushed concrete first then add a thin layer of base rock on top.

If you find a good source let me know. I’ve used Robertson’s once and feel I significantly over paid.

Why would you cover up crushed concrete with base?(I'm guessing you're talking about limestone?)

I got crushed concrete out of Sunnyvale....yea the trucking was a bit high. If you do that just get two 18 wheeler loads.

Crushed concrete doesn't have any fines to set the rock but base rock ,usually limestone,has a lot of fines mixed in and the fines will set the crushed concrete in place.

Every place I called last year only sold it with fines, 1 place in Rowlett sold it without fines but you had to use their drivers which was an 18 wheeler, well I can’t get an 18 wheeler in my backyard and they wouldn’t dump in the street so I was SOL.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but I wouldn't hesitate to say that I've bought and processed more crushed concrete than any person on the forum. Actually, if you took every forum member together, I've still bought more.

I would never buy any type of base for road building with no fines. We get rocky loads from time to time that we have to break down using water and a compactor. As a general rule of thumb, any man-made product us going to give a better wear surface than a natural product mined from the ground.

Crushed Concrete is a good product alone, no base needed. I just put it on 6 acres of parking lot for semi's, and after we watered and rolled it, it was impressive how it compacted and stayed in place. It has plenty of fines in it. It was new to me, I have always used Limestone base in the past. This was in Longview, and the product came from the plant on Hwy 149.

Thanks guys. Was in full blown panic mode this AM after having to use 4WD on about a 150’ stretch knowing more rain is coming Thursday and the weekend. . Got a window on Wednesday where it should be dry enough and a local guy is bringing me 72 yards of crushed concrete.

Worse case I will have to stop Tuesday night and get a couple tons of lime and work all night to get it mixed in - but I’m hoping to just dries well without it.

Well,I guess times have changed a lot since my time.When I bought crushed concrete back in 2008 I think Sunnyvale was the only place in this area that crushed it.The person that was delivering it told me they screened it to different sizes and no fines.After they hauled all the concrete and spread it I had a couple loads of Terrell rock put on top and it's still in good shape.

Walk the road when your finished and pick up metal.

I walked it extensively and didn't find any. Even ran a magnet over about 200' and after finding nothing opted to not worry about doing the whole drive. Few pieces of plastic but otherwise very clean (I was expecting at least some metal).

Got some 3-5" down to build up the stretch that failed. Got 72 yards of crushed concrete down elsewhere. That covered about 75% of the drive. Only problem was it started pumping badly on the final load up towards the front of our property - bad spot was back near the house. Will address that once it dries out...some day hopefully - and get about 24 more yards in too so that we've got a few inches of new rock on the 1,300' drive..
