Well. I had spoken with Trent earlier in the week about the cold snap and die offs. He had a chance to really look as of yesterday.

He lost a tremendous amount of his exotics. LSTO is 45 miles south east of Fort Stockton. Here is the first truck load. Dang shame to see this.

Yep and a few Axis as well. He was still looking today. BB stress pretty easily and do not adapt as well to the cold as other exotics. Bad deal.

What a crying shame! Sure hope that this is the worst of it for him.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

I’d rather see dead exotics than dead native species. Sucks either way though.

Damn sad but just a quick reminder that we are not in charge.
Mother Nature can be very tough.

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Hate to see that, I was surprised how many Blackbuck still alive around here, we got down to 1 degree for a while and stayed in single digits for a couple of days.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I just got back from the ranch last night. We ended up finding a few more along with a great blackbuck that looks like it passed Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Final tally was 32 blackbuck and 3 axis that we actually found. The sad thing is we know of a herd of around 30-40 but we never saw them driving around the backside of the high fence. None of the meat was salvageable which is really heartbreaking. Headed back to the ranch this weekend to get some work done and see what else we can find. We did find 2 BB does that were alive but all by themselves on separate parts of the ranch.
