Didn't take a pic of it but took this years deer and used the legs and mostly boned out shoulders along with the shanks and made broth in the oven in a covered pan with onion, peppers and garlic. We have since used the meat and broth in Stew, pot pie and chili. Works great for under utilized pieces of tough meat. and bones.

Beats the snot out of those little bitty bullion cubes.

Break the bones up with a hammer to get at the marrow too. Roast them in an oven for 30-60 mins with onion, carrots and celery, then put in a with enough water for 6-12 hours and slow simmer. Cool and strain when done, remove the fats. Turns into a great broth!

Yep, not high on my list. I have tried many times, and just can't get the taste I think I'm looking for. I have found that these are so much better than the cubes, I switched and never looked back. I still cook ham hocks, whole turkey carcasses, or prime rib bones too for my meals, but don't try to make my own broth anymore!!
