My Heater gets to temp but the fan continues running. My thermostat says the fan is off. No idea when I'll be able to get an actual HVAC person to my house trying to troubleshoot this myself so it doesn't happen overnight.

Mechanical or digital thermostat? The fan relay or control board is sticking. Better sticking on than off.

Sometimes you can kill the breaker to it when it reaches temp, and it’ll unstick that switch. But it may not want to come back on. You may be better off leaving it to run while you still can, if you’re not comfortable poking around in the furnace.

What type of heat? Gas heat? Electric? Heat pump? Can you post a picture of wall thermostat?

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

Goodman Electric Heat Pump, air handler model number is ARUF486016BA. I've tried cutting it off at the breaker and it just cuts back on as soon as I turn it on.

Thermostat is a Ecobee 3

Fan is on auto on the thermostat

Not really. If I did I wouldn't need a picture. Ha.

Like Bullfrog mentioned, could be a fan control. I assume temp in home does not exceed setpoint.

However, I am not an Ecobee expert, buy I ran into a simular situation. Turned out the Ecobee was programed air circultion that over rode the face setting.

Did you install Ecobee or program stat?

Just saw pics. With stat removed from sub base does blower continue to run.

Any idea on how to find that in the programming to check?

Since blower runs with staf separated from sub base. I wold go with Bullfrogs first thoght. Thr black cube like relay is probably stuck. With power off, you might rap onrelay lightly with nut driver handle. If your comfotable.

Just went and tried that, no joy. So most likely the board needs to be replaced?

Yeah Ox, unless by some weird circumstances the control wiring was compromised. Also assume no one has been in attic or anything.

Odd are.... needs a control board.

10.4 it's been working fine and nobody has been in attic or playing with any wires. I'll have to get a tech out here. I could probably swap the board myself but I really don't want to risk screwing up my HVAC right now.

That’s the 2nd time I’ve seen an ecobee t-stat in the last few days. Looks fancy!

Lazyjack, I should have asked your ?’s first though. Too many assumptions on my part.

One weird thing I have seen before is a heater that wouldn’t turn off at all when an element broke and grounded to the chassis. It just ran until we killed the breakers. Not the case here. I’m 99% sure it’s what Lazyjack said. The switch on the board. Sounds fused closed now if tapping won’t loosen it up.

So should I just let it run or cut it off at the breaker when it gets to temp. My concern is it running all night

If your heater is cycling but the fan won’t stop, I’d rather let it run until you can get a new board so you don’t take a chance of it not wanting to come back on after it cools from killing power. You’re just circulating warm air really.

Your call though.

Ever seen one unstick itself after a couple of days? Overnight it started working normally.

Yep. It cooled off and opened up. It will do it again.

Manufacturer # is PCBFM103S wherever you go or whoever you use.
