I have some friends that live in Allen off of Bethany Road...their service is TXU. They have not had any power interruption at all. Explain to me who decides on where and when shut offs occur. I'm with CoServ and my power is on for an hour and off for 30 minutes. Is i understand it Ercot tells the providers how much energy they have and your local provider does the rolling black out however they see fit.

What about the lack of NG? That’s not Obama’s fault. What lack of NG? You tell me, that’s what they said not me.

Your friends may be on a line with something critical attached.
To be determined

Plenty of issues to go around, everyone should be able to find a reason to be outraged, pick your target. The extreme cold is increasing energy demand at the same time the storm has reduced energy generation. FEMA officials said the lower energy output is due to a variety of factors, including icing on wind turbines and heavy cloud coverage that has reduced solar power generation.
What went wrong in Texas?
The extreme cold is increasing energy demand at the same time the storm has reduced energy generation. One of the major causes for the energy shortage has been the impact on natural gas, coal, and nuclear facilities.
Dan Woodfin, a senior director for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, told Bloomberg frozen instruments at natural gas, coal, and nuclear facilities and limited supplies of natural gas are the main reason for widespread energy shortages.
“We’ve had some issues with pretty much every kind of generating capacity in the course of this multi-day event,” he told Bloomberg. https://www.abc27.com/news/what-went-wrong-with-the-energy-grid-in-texas/

My brother and sister in law had to come over cause they've had the blackouts, about 30 min, on and off. And with olivia's feeding tube, they need to have power to keep the batteries charged up, battery goes 24hrs on a charge.

The NG pumps were converted from running on gas to running on electricity from the grid....to lower the carbon footprint. Lots of NG available; just can't get to the people who need it. Thank the EPA
The last lead smelter in the USA was shutdown due to EPA madness. Now the lead in the USA is from batteries recycled in China. Bullet shortage anyone?

One is on a grid with an essential healthcare service and one is not. All I can think of.... Also, provider doesn’t have anything to do with infrastructure.

There is no shortage of NG. Tons of it is just flared off in the Permian. The issue is there is no infrastructure to transport or store it.

SPP is declaring an Energy Emergency Alert (EEA) Level 3 effective immediately for our entire 14-state balancing authority area. Systemwide generating capacity has dropped below our current load of ~42 GW due to extremely low temperatures and inadequate supplies of natural gas. SPP=southern power pool. from Breitbart news Panhandle and a silver in ETX. Why we haven't built more NG power stations is unreal, especially in woodford shale and Ciffside field Freaking Unreal, but they will put up turbines all over the place We should have several gas fired plants here in the Permian Basin.

Yep. Worthless POS. AbBott has called for an investigation won’t help much just one of those it will make Texas people feel like something is being done No need to investigate. Look west no windmills turning and to much reliance on them. Abbott and Perry welcomed those companies with open arms. All political no thought to consumers.

Abbott is ripping them a new [censored] right now on tv. Just like the ripped the Property tax and nothing has ever changed He can rip them all he wants, I suspect nothing will happen We have had a mild winter and we get one strong cold front and all of sudden we don't have enough power on the grid, sounds likes somebody should of thought about that years ago
