My pool is frozen over with about 3" of ice. Caught my dog walking on it earlier. I've got my pump and waterfall running but with the rolling blackouts I'm only getting about 10 - 15 mins of power per hour.

How long you lived in Brady?
I was living out at Brady Lake in the 80's and had one blue norther come down that froze Brady lake over completely. Froze it deep enough you could walk across the lake at any point.
Edit: See you live in Allen, Hunt Brady.

Nice back yard. The big pond behind my house is frozen over. Tried to break a bit up tossing some logs on top of it. No go.

Had a lease near London back then, the stock tank was frozen to about 2" thick

Never been to a camping world. I prefer Dick's to be honest.

Those palm trees protected? the base and root ball are wrapped with burlap and beach towels. I'm pretty sure they are toast but we'll see.

Be careful if your power goes out for more than an hour. If the water freezes in the pump(s) or filter it'll crack them.
The pumps have drain plugs in the bottom. Also take off the strainer basket on top. I had to pour hot salt water in mine to get it to drain. Let the pressure out of the filter with the top valve. Of course shut the whole system down so it won't try to turn on.
Otherwise it could get pretty expensive real quick.

Otherwise it could get pretty expensive real quick. I've got no choice but to keep it running as my pump is a few feet below the pool. If you open everything up you have to drain about a 1/3 of the pool. The waterfall on the other end is keeping the deep end from freezing and I keep going out and chipping the ice away from the skimmers. I built a temporary shelter with some thick plastic to cover the equipment and put some heat lamps in. So far I haven't had any problems but it's a big concern. Especially since I just dropped some nice coin last spring to upgrade all of the equipment.

I’m live in Plano and I’m in the pool business. I’m gonna be busy busy busy for the next couple of months trying to get everybody running again. I’ve had a bunch of calls already about cracked filters and burst pipes. Hope yours is OK Sparta

Crazy cold out here. The San Saba River was frozen over west of Menard for the first time since December of 1983. Today was the third day and I am guessing that it will be frozen again tomorrow and Friday as lows are forecast for 18 tomorrow and 8 on Friday without getting above freezing. Adios, Gary

Nice pool & Hood you have and live in Thanks Stub Pool appears to have survived with no damage to the equipment other than a busted valve on the chlorinator (easy $20 fix). I got lucky with the blackouts as I had at least 10 - 20 mins of power every hour. I think the longest we went without any power was about 90 mins. Any longer and I would probably have a lot of work on my hands. No busted pipes in the house (Thank you Lord!)
