One of the best reports this year.
Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Heck yeah! When it is cool and moist down there, it can be pretty epic.

We were south of y’all. Best hunt I’ve had in three years. It’s nice when it’s cool enough to run dogs all day.

That doesn’t happen that often down that way. You hit it just right, and the sand really helps out.

Nice hunting! That last picture could be mistaken as a sled dog team with the background.

Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

Thats absolutely phenomenal! Are these all wild birds? I’m pretty sure they were all wild unless someone snuck in 15 miles off the blacktop and tossed out hundreds of pet bird.. The hatch must have been great down there with a lot of late nests. Many bird were small and held like they had a death wish. I just hope most made it through the snow. Next weekend could be a different story. Wish we would have pounded on them instead of just shooting covey rise. The only singles we really worked was when I threw my little Lucy dog on the ground by herself when we busted a 20 bird covey off the Road. We could have killed the whole bunch in the thick grass but we only shot three over her.she pointed almost all of them. Pups also had a few Singles shot over them when they held their bird. It was nice to see the dogs really get into bird all day. They’ve been running all year without much to show for it. The Cadillac dogs really put on a show. It’s really nice to have a hunt where the old dogs just do their job and the pups get a nose full regularly. Every dog on the trip had several finds. Trips like this make all the work worthwhile.
