Been riding out this storm. have not lost power, kept the temp set on 70, outside temp is currently 8 degrees. Storm dumped a ton ( by south texas standards ) of snow on us.
Taking normal precautions, we have all our faucets dripping. My boys have a Jack & Jill Bathroom with dual sinks. The left side of the sink stopped working. The right side sink turns on but only the cold water. This sink is up against the exterior wall of the north side of the house. No exposed pipes outside they are all run inside. Home is rock/Stucco.
Every other sink/faucet in the house is working fine. I was always told you just needed to keep a few sinks running to circulate water inside the home....we had all of them going. Can a pipe freeze like that?
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

That’s odd. I wish I had an explanation but I’m def curious to hear what a professional has to say about it.

Lines ran under slab or in the attic then down the walls?

Most plumbing is on a dead end stub, here isn’t any flow if the faucet is turned off. It’s the stub out of the slab that usually freezes. Sometimes the plumber gets the piping too close to the outside of the plate

Open the cabinet doors below the sink and put a small heater blowing air in there. Leave the cabinet doors open

Just got back. There was a hamper of dish cloths under there. I put them in a hot only setting on my washing machine. Plan toe take them out of the dryer and put them there while they are still warm. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

My master bath is frozen up too. Both sinks, shower, tub, toilet. I have water everywhere else in the house. Fingers crossed nothing busts.

One of my water pipes is visible on the outside of the slab about 6 inches down, the plumber or the concrete guy screwed up.. I keep dirt piled up on it and put a blanket and put a couple of bags of mulch against the slab and the house. So far so good.
Run a hair drier on the exposed valve and piping and see if you can get it to thaw.

Yep, I woke up to no hot water at the kitchen sink (north wall). I tried to think of everything and didn't think of that. Hot and cold are fine everywhere else. Got the cabinet open and space heater going. 5 degrees here. The snow blew past us I guess; just enough to cover the ice. And we all know how well I'm doing with the ice. Big adventure coming up - toddling to the barn to get more casseroles and another space heater. Thinking about crawling on my hands and knees. Ranch road in front is officially closed. 'Hope you get it all squared away with no busted pipes.

It was spotted when the forms came off the slab 9 years ago when built. It was for a hose bib and we decided to just skip that location and capped it. There have been plenty of freezes in the teens with no problem, so hoping no problem now. When this thaws in a few days if there is a problem it will spray outside into the flower bed. I figure I can dig 2+ feet straight down in easy to dig sand to cut it off and put a SharkBite cap on it until soldering a cap on it and burying it back again.

We are in the same boat. Northeast side of the house the shower is frozen. I suspect it’s the pex lines in the attic a d that particular set of lines is close to the edge of the attic. I had a heater on the shower wall all night with no luck so that tells me the lines aren’t in the wall. Hopefully we get enough sun to heat the attic enough. Other than that we have one toilet on the other side of the house that isn’t refilling. I’m trying to run the nearest faucet with hot water to see if that helps thaw the line.

I don't bllame you but since in my area it is suppose to get even colder tonight, I didn't want to chance a freeze break. I had water to them last night before I went to bed. I woke up this morning around 4 am and found the problem, I decided to go ahead and attack it and be proactive, it's only sheetrock and paint to fix, better than a flooded house. Mine was in the water closet so I had to pull my toilet to access the pipes. I had heat gun I was going to use, and I did have a torch I was going to use. I was having rolling black outs at my place at the time, So I decided to try to hot water in a baggie trick, I had to double bag a gallon freezer bag, but after about 3 minutes I heard the tub running.

I believe in the power of PEX I believe in the power of PEX I believe in the power of PEX
Would sacrifice a chicken if I had one.
Bath tub cold water froze. That line should have been nowhere near an outside wall or the attic. Kitchen hot water is frozen s well. That is on an outside wall. One of those single handled faucet. Had it running a fair stream, that I thought was both hot and cold, but apparently the hot was still shut off.
We will just pray that when it starts warming up that, nothing is broken. We planned on putting our house on the market this coming weekend. The way it looks, it might be Saturday before before plumbing has a chance to thaw here. Pretty sure that plan will get pushed back.
We all need to practice Whoa more.

My water heater is leaking on top, looks like from one of the galvanized nipples. Now that if got power, will check into it further this afternoon. At least it’s sitting in a drain pain, with an outlet to the outside. Water softener also started running continuously after power went out. It’s in a closet w/water heater on north side. Left the light on in there, but then the power went out.

Thanks Danny, luckily is not enough water to cover the bottom of the drain pan. Found the leak, connection where flexible copper meets galvanized nipple. Need to get tools to tighten out of truck tool box. Snow shoveling will be involved.
