I had both knees done over 2 years. One at a time!! That was done within the last five years.I'm 74 now. I can't help but stress enough the importance of PT. I pushed myself each time and ended my PT therapy sooner than expected . No more pain.

Have you had the next appointment yet? They had to reschedule for tomorrow because of busted pipes. Knee opened up again during the blackout while I was hustling firewood. Oozing blood instead of joint fluid now. Looks like I'm heading back under the knife. Sucks that I've wasted 5 weeks on this.

Just returned from Dr appt. Worse case scenario. I'll be checking in the Hospital Thur night for a Fri surgery. May be there awhile as he's going to open me up even wider than before, remove the parts, clean out and test for infection. Repeat the clean out so many times, then wait there until all is good and replace parts and send me home for 2 months of IV antibiotics. If I would have any idea this would have happened I'd have just lived with the bad knee.

Yep. That is the one thing you do not want to happen. Very sorry to hear that. But, now you know the plan. Now you can set your mind and get it done and over. Do what ya can and believe this is the beginning of the end of issues and you will be good as new shortly. This is one of those things where you just have to embrace the suck and fight through. You will and can do this. Will continue to pray for you sir. Keep us posted as you are able.

Thanks y'all. Trying to keep my spirits up. Actually, wife and I made a lease run today to fill feeders and check on the trailer, etc. Already had the feed in the truck. Had planned on going Sat anyways. Wife did most of the lifting. She also wanted to stop at the cemetery in Ft Worth and see my mom. Knee soaked through on the way back. UGH. I'll work at home tomorrow and check in to the ER around 8pm. Fun times ahead. At least I already know what to expect during the recovery as I already did a lot of it (minus the IV regimen).

Hang in there Jimbo, what a terrible piece of luck. Here is a hope and prayer that the next surgery will be a breeze. Has to be cause you have already had the bad times. Hang in there!

Thanks for the good thoughts everyone, I'll get through this...eventually. The docs always say it’s rare but I beg to differ, I’ve been saying it for a little while unfortunately. I hope you have a great outcome but your in for hell. PM me for the long term or any questions. My MRSA turned into Osteomyelitis and that’s a lifelong issue.

Hey fellas. Still in the hospital, probably out tomorrow. Got my pic line put in this morning. So there was definitely a staphylococcus infection. Not MRSA, thank God. They replaced all the hardware and cleaned it out good. Packed it in antibiotic beads. I’ll be in an immobilizer for 3 weeks to give extra protection for wound healing. I.V antibiotics for 8 weeks and then oral antibiotics for life. Going to be a PITA for a couple months but it is what it is. I’ve come to grips with it. Hope everyone is going good, thanks again for the good thoughts.

I feel your pain buddy, hang in their it does get better. I still have box’s full of sealed up pic line components if you happen to need anything. I started spitting blood clots from the pic line and I ended up with 18 blood clots in my lungs so definitely ask about blood thinners if you have any family history of blood clots. I didn’t know to and it almost cost me my life. If you have any clots in your family’s history let them know ASAP. It’s not a big deal but simply something to know,

Got home from the hospital late Monday afternoon. Had my appt yesterday at the infusion office where they showed me everything I need to know about my IV. I just finished my first "in-home" infusion. Piece of cake. Also had the home health (PT) come out this morning. Just have to ride it out now. I might start back at work Friday (at home). Just sitting here is pretty boring. Now I need to start working on getting my pool and equipment inspected from the storm.
Well wishes for everyone.

Been on the Vancomycin for two weeks now. Blood tests last week were perfect. This last week I started having chills and sweats and slight fever. Was getting my weekly batch today and told them what was going on so they notified the DR and is putting me on a different antibiotic tomorrow. Said to stop my Atorvastatin also as it can cause problems while taking this stuff. Just keeps getting better for me! Hoping to get my brace off next Tuesday...maybe then I'll just go drive into a bridge pillar and be done with it!
