Had to be more than one coyote to eat that much. Also saw one of my yearling Ibex with blood on its neck. Either the coyote let loose or it lucked out and got away.

All critters are hungry now with the cold weather.

I've had packs of dogs around recently.

There's that possibility too.

Usually they the same treatment.

Donkeys and
llamas won't help the deer. The Ibex don't always stay together for Llamas to help. I have had trouble with donkeys killing new born sheep and goats. My Sister and BIL have Red Sheep. They also have a Llama. They have raised very few lambs in the last few years. All you can do is keep trying to keep the coyotes out and kill all you can. Then all of a sudden another shows up and you start over.

Agree about the donkeys.

They can be more problems than they solve. smile

Get yourself a couple Great Pyrenees and let them live with your game. A friend got rid of most of his sheep, but kept a 8K acre high fence elk operation. The dogs love the elk and watch over them like crazy. They are especially good with the calves in May and June. They just live with them all year long, and have a couple shelter houses at each end of the property, if weather really gets bad

I had a great pyrenees. The first nanny that had a kid he killed it. The dog is no longer with us.

DK: Really surprised to hear that. Most of the time, they are super with them all. Live (or die) and learn.

One other problem with the dog was that the Ibex beat the crap out of him when I got him. They I guess associated him with a coyote or other predator. If he got closer than a about 100 ft. they would go after him. Then when the first kid was born he bit it in the head and killed it. Believe me, I have tried it all. I even have these predator lights that blink randomly at night. I have stay tuff predator proof wire and even 4"X4" cattle panels on the perimeter of the place. I put snares in holes and cover others up with rocks or caliche. One of the problems I have now is a neighbor who has around 1000 acres is clearing the entire place of cedar. Has had a dozer there for over 5 months dozing and piling the cedar. It would it had displaced a lot of coyotes that used to call that rough place home. I will get the coyote or coyotes that got the deer and the Ibex. Hopefully it won't do too much killing before I do.

Several by the drag marks. Snare their trails if it's safe. Damn bastards.

One shot is all it should take.
