 MInimal scope clearance question

I have a Savage 110 Scout in .308, I put an inexpensive BSA pistol scope on it using low Leupold rings. The rear of the scope is BARELY making contact with the M1913 rails. I believe that a single plastic shim from the scope ring package should help the scope body clear the rails. My question is, will this be enough clearance? I do not plan on having a rear cover, so that is not an issue. I also don't want the scope sticking up way high, I want as compact of an assembly as I can get. Thanks

It doesn't matter. That BSA scope will fail soon enough.   Seriously, a .308 doesn't kick enough to make the scope flex, so clearance shouldn't be an issue.

OK thanks. I also figured since it was on the rails.barrel slap shouldn't be an issue especially since it is only the rear lens that is affected. The front is well clear of the gun.

Food for thought. I used to try and get every scope as close to barrel as possible. Went to first PRS match and a guy asked if I could get a consistent cheek weld having to have my head tilted so much. I looked around and noticed I had the lowest mounted scope at the entire shoot. From that day forward I never worried about how close I got it. All that matters now is cheek weld regardless of how close to the bore I am.
