I was at Barksdale AFB in the late 60's& early 70's and they were getting old then & that was 50 years ago. If memory serves me correctly...the last 'new' B-52 rolled off the assembly line in 1964. Read an article a few years back about B-52s, SAC and family. In the article one of the B-52 pilots said that the aircraft he was in command of had also been flown by his father and his grandfather respectively when they were in SAC.

When I was a kid, we regularly watched B52s in the air over central Oklahoma coming and going from Tinker AFB. Hard to believe that was 50ish years ago, and many of the airframes remain in service.
