I have one of these on a Model 70 Featherweight XTR, .30-.06 my Dad got me for my 12th B-Day back in 1982. Have always liked the optics with this scope for a smaller one and especially like the raised block button on the magnification adjustment for easy adjustment manipulation. Think the scope Model # could be slightly different back in the early 1980s from now as I don't have the scope in front of me now. What would something like this have run pricewise back in those days, $300ish?

Thats what I have on my 06 M70 as well as another rifle. I dont like a bulky scope and it serves my purpose. I have no idea about the costs but I would assume youre close.

Think he may have bought that gun on a slightly used trade-in; was that scope on their as a package deal originally or was that simply a popular Leupold model back in early 80s?

My Dad originally bought the M70 new in the 60s and I dont know if it came with a scope but he had a Weaver 6x on it when i inherited it in 72 and at some point I put the Leupold on it.

It was about a $300-350 scope back in the day. Probably would sell for about $100 less than that now. I used to have them on several mountain rifles but I have moved up to the 4.5 - 14x because they are just about as lightweight these days.

NP nailed it. I have seen them broach the $425 mark depending on reticle.
