I don’t have the answer, but I will say that I’ve successfully called up coyotes with howls, but have recently called in a couple using the sound of hogs fighting. I just tried that sound on a whim, never really expecting that it would work. Nothing else was working for me at the time.

The female we shot last weekend was coming in, howling might work this time of the year.

I normally start most of my morning sets with a few howls, then move to prey distress, then pup distress toward the end if nothing has showed itself yet.

On new properties I’ll start with a quick howl to try and locate them. Then normally onto cotton tail or Jack rabbit distress, too early for fawn distress. This time of year, mating season, howls and den raid can work well. If I have a pair or more come in, I’ll shoot one and immediately go to pup distress to try and coax them back in.

I have also had them come in to hog sounds.

I've been laying the smackdown with fawn distresses and pup distress for the last couple weeks lol.
