So howd everyone do?
Some things I noticed this year: -Early teal was a complete bust for me here in north texas. Next year I'm headed to the coastal prairie for some guided hunts. -Scouting the weekend of Halloween we had good numbers of mallards, they disappeared before the season opener. -Even though the number 1 bird i shot this year was GWT, they didn't show up till after the second split. -I didn't see alot of Pintail. Only shot 2. -Generally speaking the birds flew the first 30-45 minutes of light and then they were done. I shot alot of limits within 10-15 minutes of LST. -Birds didn't seem to respond very well to calls or decoys this year, you where either were they wanted to be or you were SOL. -Hooded mergansers didn't show up till the last week of the season. -Bird numbers seemed to have significantly declined the last 3 weeks of the season.
These are all my personal numbers as I hunt solo. 29 hunts all on public land. 88 ducks 2 merganser 2 Canada geese
29 GWT 22 gadwall 13 mallards 8 wood ducks 5 shovelers 4 wigeon 4 ringnecks 2 pintail 2 hooded megansers 2 Canada geese 1 BWT

I think there is a reason it took almost a week to get this thread up and started. Overall piss poor year (I'm referring to public hunting) To me its a combo of nothing to drive birds south up north and our lakes not set up to hold birds. A few lakes held some feed but overall still poor lake conditions. Pressure this year was far worse than any year I have noticed (I just completed my 7th season of serious trying to kill a duck) and it has progressed from walk in, yaking in, to boats now.
* Mallards 39 * Gadwall 30 * Woody 8 * Wigeon 9 * Spooner 9 * Pintail 2 * BW teal 2 * GW teal 12 * ringneck 1
* 1 goose
37 days hunted. Most solo but had a buddy along for some. I think I shot right at 80 of the ducks. I rate it as my worst season of the 7 I've hunted. Last 2 years before this year were the worst...it just keeps getting worse and worse lol. If I knew 5,6 and 7 years ago what I know now with the resources I have now I'd like to imagine how many ducks I'd kill back then.
Can't wait until it starts all over again as I'm changing up some things.

This is basically spot on on our Farm as well. This was our first year to have a fully built water controlled hunting area with food in it. We did see alot of positives about it, and alot of things we need to change in this off season. Over all I was happy with what we had, since its ours and we basically built it. I think most hunts was just my wife and I. And we averaged between 4 to 10 birds a hunt. Which is not bad. Ill have to look at our log book for exact numbers. But it was mostly GW Teal, Wigeon, and Boots. Did shoot some Mallards and Pintail the last weekend of season. So that was a positive. This offseason I really want to pull the Gadwalls in. There are ALOT in our area, but they really focus on the ponds with duckweed in them.
