How many have that one gun that the scope never has to be adjusted and gun performs flawlessly all the time every time and has for many years even while others may use it and it never gets the proper care it should. The ranch house gun we call it.
And what is it?
Mine....... bought new 54yo Ruger .270 with fixed 6x Redfield Widefield and some kinda cheap mounts...nothing but Remington core-loc ammo through it. Scope hasn’t been adjusted in 30yrs and shoots lights out. I have other high dollar equipment but nothing with a rep like that ol Ruger and Redfield scope.

my Ruger .270 is that way.

I zero'd it in 1997 and have not touched the scope since, a Redfield 3x9 Tracker

I've shot god knows how many deer with it. I don't use it much any more but try and take it out once or twice a season. Shot a doe with it this year and forgot how much I love that rifle. I don't abuse it though and baby it like a newborn child, but it has its scars from 20 years of use. It isn’t a safe queen

I don't gun hunt much anymore and when i do I'm usually somewhere on a rugged hunt and carrying one of my Weatherby's, but thats one of the only gun i would never sell and have 100% confidence in.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I have an old Savage 110 in 243 like that, with a 3x9x40 Leupe shooting 95 gr Silvertips. It's still my go to rifle most of the time, has killed a chit ton of animals. It's been dropped, banged around with kids, shaken to freakin' death on ATV's. UTV's, golf carts, & trucks....pick it up, place crosshairs on animal/pick a hair, game over. It's got scratches, dents, & dings all over it. I love that gun. It's ugly, but it's faithful. I'll take faithful over pretty any day. grin

Faithful and pretty....well that's a whole nother subject....

Remington 788 in 7mm08 bought new in 82. It is on its second scope the old Weaver V7W died on a hunt in Mississippi after 20+ years on it, that afternoon of hunting in the rain when a buck stepped out and I looked through it at him it was almost half full of water. Put the crosshairs on him and dropped him at about 75 yards. After that I put a Kahles 2-7 on it and sighted it in and it is still good to go. At least 15 people have killed deer with that rifle and it has been hunted with hard, still shoots where it should and nice little half MOA groups.

Win mod 70 with BOSS and leupold vx-3 3.5-10 (I think that's the scope). 300 WM. 1/2 moa at 200, last time I checked. This was my dads rifle. When he passed
(young) it became mine. I pick it up every time I head to the deer fields. Have had at least three others shoot their first deer with this rifle.

That said, one of my next firearm purchases will be a new hunting rifle. Just cus I want one of my own and want my dads to last my lifetime and my children's lifetime.

Remington model seven in .223. Old Tasco (or Bushnell cant remember) haven't adjusted the scope in 30 years. Killed a bunch of deer with that gun. Would like to put a newer nicer scope on it but cant bring myself to do it.

Ruger m77 270. Wife bought it for me new in 1988 with a cheap 3x9 bushnell scope. Zeroed in that year and have never had to adjust it at all since then. Have dropped it, bumped it in and out of the truck, deer stand, doorways, etc but the scope stays true. It amazes me every year, I take it out before season and shoot it expecting to have to adjust it but never have to.

Remington Model 700 ADL chambered in .270 Winchester with walnut stock purchased in the late 80's. What probably differentiates it most is that it shoots everything I feed it equally well. Always has and I expect it always will.

I have a Browning BBR 7 Mag. Which is grand paw to the A Bolt. I bought it at a furniture store that sold guns in Kingsville Texas when I lived there in 1978. I haven’t shot it in years but I can drag it out of the safe fly to Africa and shoot a bull kudu and never have to worry about it. The old gun is rock solid and put three bullets in the same hole more than once.

Thanks, Billy

I have several Savage heavy barrel rifles like that.
22-250
243
308
270WSM

The ONLY time I've ever adjusted any of them was for a change of 'recipe'.
Ugliest rifles in my house but every one of them drives tacks!

My .270 Remington 700 BDL SPS topped with a Zeiss Conquest 6.5x20 scope. I shoot Remington 130 grain Core-Lokt out of it and it has always been very accurate. I bought it in 2003 and only had to re-sight in once after that when I dropped it out of a 10' tripod in 2004. It has the use scars from doing hunts all over Texas, to Alberta and New Zealand. It has killed a boat load of animals.

Tang Safety Ruger 77 in 7-Mag, this one still has the original trigger but it has been fine tuned. Bought it back in the 80's and mounted a 3x9 Redfield on it, sighted it in with 150's and I've never changed a thing, made my longest witnessed shot with this rifle on a Mulie Buck south of Rankin. If I pulled it out of the case today I'll bet money it's going to print a 2 inch high 1 inch group at 100 yards. Made a longer shot with it on a whitetail nth of Coahoma but that one was not witnessed. I missed that one with the first shot and went over his back, he didn't survive the second one. Hell I just took a look and I still have ammo from the same day I bought the rifle.

Ruger M77 in 308 with a cheap Bushnell scope. I bought it used about 15 years ago. I've never touched the scope. Shot it 3 times and got 3 deer with it this year. Great shooting gun with any ammo.

My old fn browning 270. My first deer rifle 50 years ago. It has a period date redfield 3x9 on it that has not been adjusted in 30 years and it still drives tacks at 100 yards.

My T3 in .270 with a Burris scope. The other is a Remington 788 in .243 that my dad got me for Christmas in 73 0r 74 with a Leupold 4X. I've since given that gun to my son.

Remington 700 Classic 7mm Remington Mag I bought new from McBride's guns in Austin August of 1979 in preparation for my first out of state Mule deer and Elk hunt. I originally topped it with a Weaver K4 wide angle and dialed it in for 300 yards (where everyone told me I needed for CO). After a couple of years, my FIL gave me a Tasco 4-12x50 (Christmas present) with range finder (tick marks) and bullet drop compensator (custom turret) that rode for the next ~30 years but the light gathering was marginal at first/last light as my eyes started to age, so I updated to a Leopold VX3 4.5-14x50 that made a world of difference. Once each of the scopes were mounted and dialed in, never touched them again. It likes Federal Premium 150 grain BTSP Sierra Game King bullets and is set zero at 200 yards. I have killed a bunch of WT, MD, Elk, hogs, fox, bobcat, racoon, etc. Just kicks like a mule, but I don't notice that in the field, only at the range prior to the start of season.

The pre 64 winchester model 70 in 243 with a vintage leupold m8 7.5x. Can not remember when it was sighted in but has taken many a deer by many a folk over the last 25 years and has never been adjusted in that time. I always carry it even if I know the hunter. Its the only rifle I treat that way.

Dad's Parker-Hale sport rifle in .30-06 with a Leupold 3X9. He got the gun for Christmas in '71 or '72 and then he bought the scope at Ray's Sporting Goods and they mounted it.
First shot zeroing it in was dead absolute center at 100 yards. Dad took a couple more shots then had his friend with him take a couple then I took two. Mine were the only ones not dead center (I'm left handed and it was a big gun for a smallish kid).
Over the next 30 plus years never made an adjustment and lot's of different people used that gun and everyone said how accurate it was.

Then a few years back the handle on the case broke and it took a hard hit on the driveway. Knocked the scope off. I had the scope remounted and it's still pretty good but it varies just a little.

A browning .270 with a leupold m8 that I inherited from my grandpa. Take it out once a year to check zero and take hunting. In the probably 20 years I've had it I've never had to adjust anything from year to year, always puts three shots into about an inch 2 inches high. If it wasn't for sentimental value of not wanting to get it dinged up, it would probably be the only rifle i used.
