I'm curious what you guys are using for feed. Just in your spin feeders, how much corn/corn mix do you think you go through on an annual basis. Hard to get # of feeders in here, so feel free to post that up as well.

We have 6 feeders in Navarro county. We turn them up to 8 second feeding in the fall, and then turn them back down to 3 second feeding in the summer. I estimate around 1000 lbs a year for each feeder. Also have 3 feeders up in OK that I full twice a year at 300 lbs each. Around 7800 lbs total. That is the whole family's corn usage though. If you are looking at a per hunter usage, it is only around 1200 lbs per person.
Plus Protein. We do go through a lot of protein.

4,000 pounds for a total of 4 feeders, so 1,000 per feeder.

We start around September 1st and let the feeders run to empty at the end of the season. Feed protein and little corn starting in March.

320 acres 4 feeders, feed all year.
takes 1200 to fill and we try to fill them monthly. Sometimes they go empty for a bit before we get them filled but that is about 14,000 lbs give or take.

I feel like I'm doing way to much maybe. We do about 1500 pounds a month for 250 acres. Don't guess the deer need all that but just got in the habit of doing that much. Also do some protein from March to September. Maybe need to cut the corn back it sounds like.

From January 16th through September 30th, Klappenbach and I put in 9,750 pounds of corn into our seven feeders. On or about Labor Day weekend, we cranked up the times to more generously feed and keep those dear deer close by. No telling how much we used during deer season which would also include road corn every single, dad gum time we hunted. I can imagine an "easy" doubling.

5 corn feeders at 3 blinds on 234 acres that are running year round, plus road feed also. I would think it runs from 10,000 to 12,000 per year on corn alone depending on the year. Then add in around 6,000 to 7,000 on free choice protein per year.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

Yep- doesn't go high enough. I probably overdo it- I have 12 feeders on 130 acres and feed year-round. Both fields have 4 feeders in them. I like seeing deer every time I go.

I have 12 feeders on 130 acres... Wow, one feeder per 10 acres. No reason for the deer to ever leave your place.

Your poll tonnage doesn't go high enough. I struggled with what to put on there. For our lease, we have 15-20 feeders, and I share/help manage half of those with 2 other guys. We will go through 12-15k lbs in corn this year, so just under a ton per feeder. That said, divide that by 3 and the per person usage is about 4-5k. So, question becomes, are you counting everyone on your land if you have others, or are you only counting what YOU go through?

Two 600# and one 400# feeder that get filled about 3x per year - they each throw twice a day, but only 3 seconds in season and 1 second off-season. So, 1600 x 3 = 4,800# of corn. I also have a small 200# feeder by the house, but only fill on occasion when I have leftover bags from filling the others, so that counts in the 4800#s as well.

it adds up ...
my little place in central Texas under wildlife management exemption, 3 feeders year around, fill 900 lbs every other month = 5400 lbs
Ozona, 3 feeders year around, fill every quarter plus twice during season, 900 lbs each time = 4500 lbs
east Texas 6 feeders between my son and I, fill about every quarter plus at least two to three times during season (MLD3), 1500 lbs each time = 7500 lbs
not to mention corn for the road feeders in east TX alone, so a bunch more

In Kimble Co I fill a 1000# free choice protein feeder every 10-14 days from March-September. Figure 14-16k pounds. Probably average 10-12k pounds of corn feeding year round, that's six 600# feeders.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.
