Looking into getting a new blind. I have had recommendations for cedar and recommendations for insulated metal. I know I could build my own, but in this case, I'm looking to purchase. What did you buy that you would buy again?

I have both types of blinds. Huge difference in the products and price. PM me if you wish to talk.

I would go metal, for one reason. Woodpeckers. At least where I normally hunt, they are HELL on deer blinds. Holes = water & yellow jackets.

Didn't think about woodpeckers. Thanks for that input.

If I ever build another blind, it will be made out of 1" thick foam with 1x2 supports in the walls and roof on a plywood floor. Then covered in "poor man's fiberglass", which is Titebond glue, canvas and paint. Light enough that one person can move it, even put it on a 4 foot high stand.

We have no woodpecker problem, so that is not an issue. http://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=71572

This someone elses build. http://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=71572 Go all the way through page 3 to see the end result. My changes would be a hexagon shape and 1x2 instead of 2x2.

That’s an awesome idea. Been scouring the web looking for something durable and lightweight. Thanks for sharing!

Use this to do the plan sketch up https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/geometry-plane/polygon.php

This is one that I had played with the idea of building. Not a hexagon, but modified. windows on short walls, door on the back wall.

It's epidemic south of 20. Either metal or hardi board is only way to go

I was looking at his build as well as the metal spool build. I think incorporating the materials with something like those designs would be great. Really liked the spool build but man that thing is heavy.

They're pretty good wrapped in bacon, woodpeckers, not yellowjackets

That calculator is pretty helpful with building your feeder pens as well (for some reason I did not remember all of my high school geometry apparently...).

If you go with cedar or any wood, hang or install a owl decoy near the blind , maybe if it moved some woodies tend not to mess with them, then
on the other hand bluejays like to instigate fights in the birding world!.....
gud luck....

hunt safe.....
