I shot 3 does last weekend with three shots. At that rate and if I only shoot at something I am going to eat I will be good on Ammo for about 10 years. Aim small miss small and don't waste ammo on target practice is the way I am going to go about it! I pray I don't bump a scope and knock it off.

I bought a bunch of sharp sticks. I'll save my ammo in case I have to make some long shots.

Went by Tex Gun Exp. In Gvine this morning, they had 30 boxes of 308win bronze 148g for $ 36 for 20 rounds per box, saw 300 mag, some 7.62 I belive, 9mm many , 50 cal several, 243 several, several others at decent prices.
Went to Canton trade days yesterday, saw ammo Fed 308 win $ 65 a box and others about the same. I'm needing 12g dove loads, bought some decent loads at $ 10 bucks a box. I need cases, aint gonna happen, guess 2 here to there.

I bought a .300 Win. Mag. last week and don't have a single round to fire in it. I've always had leap first tendencies. bang Mountain Goat hunt this November. This'll be fun.

I have had leap first tendencies as well when it comes to guns and ammo only mine has been the opposite side of that spectrum. Years ago I bought 1000s of rounds of surplused 1980s Australian made ammo packed in strippers and repurposed 1960s bandoleers in steel ammo boxes. I sold the bandoleer kits on ebay for more than I paid for the ammo too. I repacked the ammo back into the steel cans separated by year. As I have done with other surplus ammo I figured I would just pull the bullets and replace with my choice of hunting bullets as needed. Plan was to buy a couple 7.62/308 rifles for hunting to go with my lifetime+ supply of ammo. Its been years and I still don't own a single 308. Maybe it is time.

About 2 weeks ago I talked to a guy at Hodgdon Powder and he told me the same thing. Cranking it out as fast as they can and can't keep up. But he also told me something else, once it leave the factory and goes to the distributors they have nothing to do with it and he readily admitted that the powder they send out isn't making it to lots of stores. Distributors are selling to high volume buyers who are then re-selling at big profits. He said Hodgdon doesn't like it but can't control it

I told him he was wrong because they can always sell some of it it through their own online site which has been "out of stock" for months. He replied they didn't want to do that because with the hazmat shipping fees people would pay around $50 a lb for powder and I asked what he thought they were paying if they find it? I then told him that listing at at $24 on their site and not being able to sell any didn't do anyone any good and that I'd be more than happy to buy what I need directly from them and go around the distributors. That fell on deaf ears.

I can’t answer that with certainty but probably because they don’t get the traffic that Midway or Cabelas does but I’ve bought a ton of Federal from them in the last month. I can all but guarantee you that your not buying live ammo from either one of the places you mentioned because every swinging dong in the country is hitting those sites non stop. You have to hit the off the beaten path places to find the goods. If your shopping with 5,000,000 shoppers in the same store your odds are not so good texas I’ve got this search and destroy stuff down pretty good and for what your seeking that’s your best bet IMO.

Or hit local pawn shops, their pretty good hidden honey holes as well, it’s going to be high but they have a pretty good supply at times to.

Gotcha, I just requested the notify me section on sportsmen’s guide. I appreciate the tips

I just went to Sportsman Guide for 22lr, .17HMR, 270, 30/06, 300 savage. They had a total of 0 boxes of any of those five.

Be quick when you get the notifications. I scored 3 boxes of 308 180 trophy bonded tips off of Midway a couple of weeks ago. I'm hopeful more will be available soon as I need all the hunting 308 ammo I can find.

For 30-06, a buddy was kind enough to pick me up 5 boxes of SSTs from Field and Stream when he was raiding their ammo in December

I love it. Nice and quiet around our place. I've got plenty of 270 ammo. I always thought it was senseless to blast away at targets anyway. I shoot at pigs for 'targets'.
