I'll try to keep this brief.
A vet school classmate of mine and her husband, also a vet, were expecting their first baby in March. Due to some complications, baby Anderson was born by emergency c section on on 1/5 at 30 weeks weighing just under 2 pounds. He's been rocking along in NICU til yesterday. He developed necrotizing enterocolitis and a bowel perforation. He had a surgery yesterday and another this morning. After the surgery today, my friends were told Anderson had no viable gut and there was nothing else that could be done. He passed away this afternoon in his parents arms.
Please pray for comfort for my friends. They are some of the best people you'll ever meet and I shared many a duck blind with her husband when we were in school. My heart hurts for them tonight and I cannot imagine being in their shoes.
