I have a Performance Center Hunter .44 mag I use occasionally for deer hunting. I’ve been thinking about an optic, maybe a red dot. Definitely don’t want a scope. Any opinions on what would be appropriate for this gun to help my aging eyes?
It has a rail mounted already.

My 629 PC hunter package has a 2-6 Bausch and Lomb scope and has had for about as long as I have had it. I have a little problem with the eyes for a red dot to work well for me. If a red dot works then there are many that will work. I have several TC Contenders scoped with various scopes 2X or 2-6 and they just work better for me.

I have a Burris FF3 red dot on my S&W Performance Center 460XVR. It’s been there for 3-4 years and has t had an issue.

Running a ff3 on my 610 and has held up fine. The ultra dot red dots get good reviews on toughness and the ability to dim the dot. The smaller the dot the more precise you can shoot and the dimmable features help with starburst effects and different light conditions. I think Trijicon makes a 1 moa dot one I would look into. My Trijicon has a 3 moa dot and I'm running it on a Springfield osp 10 mm and it not dimable and it's stays on all the time buts it's a ride the 4 wheeler carry gun for what ever I run across.
