It’s becoming impossible to find shells at any of the big box stores (academy, Walmart, etc) so I wanted to see if anyone else has come across this issue and where everyone goes to buy?
I’ve even tried looking online at different sites and they are all sold out and on back order.

Hadn’t noticed. Started rolling my own about 40+ years ago.

I needed some 308 Win ammo. Went to the Midway USA site and set up an account. They have a tab on things that says "notify me." You hit that and it saves a message with your registered email account. When the stuff becomes available they shoot you an email. You need to act quick though. Less than 2 weeks after I requested notification I was informed about 308 ammo and 12 ga slugs both of which I bought. Don't know if other places have the same set up but Midway does.
Normally I handload and Midway has the same set up for components.

Hadn’t noticed. Started rolling my own about 40+ years ago. Yep, Except for shotshells occasionally and of course rimfire, I load my own centerfire stuff (50 years this year).

Just have to be lucky or keep searching. I bought .270, 12 gauge & .22 yesterday at Walmart. In the last week I’ve found .243, .308, 9mm and .40 in a few short searches. Price was up a little but flat rate shipping was manageable. My local Academy had a dozen boxes of 9mm last week as well so I snagged my limit of 3 boxes.

I check the big box stores when I drive by but don't go out of my way to check them. Most of the time they're out. I get most of my ammo from mom and pop stores in the area. For the most part, pretty well stocked. I do have trouble getting 22.250 and locating .22 but I've got a few boxes of those as it is. I'll tell you how out of hand some of this has gotten, I went to an auction in Llano over the weekend and a tub of .22's, 1400 rounds, went for $280.00.

IMHO.... It's only just begun!
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

This falls roughly in line with comments posted in another thread that .22 ammo is going for 25 cents a round. I suspect the scalpers are once again selling small sandwich bags with 20 rounds for $5.

Just curious Davis300, did you get that 270 at the Wally World in Weatherford? Sorry got the delay! Been flying since I posted this. Yes I did! The one in Hudson Oaks has .270, .22, 30.06, etc...in-town had 12 gauge and a few others. They were stocking a delivery in H.O. when I walked up so got lucky I suppose.

If you are near Grapevine, Tx. Try the " The Texas Gun Experience" real nice fairly new gun store and range. Every time I've gone in there they have had a very good supply of some popular rounds for pistol and rifle .They have it seems, always some 308win, I have found SIG and Federal 168g but mostly some of the Russian stuff 308win 150g. I've already stocked up on 308win, not saying how much LOL but wont need any for awhile, on 40 cal. S & W pistol rounds same thing. All at very normal price.2 box limit and been there at different days and time. I think Mondays might be best. Best of Luck and all the best all the time.
You'll come to know when the bullet hits the bone. I didn't come this far or get this old by backing up.

Optics Planet is actually taking orders but saying 3-5 month wait. It’s pricey. I’ve bought some off Gunbroker for about the same prices.

Have an organ to sell? LOL I have powder, and primers.. . nice die set. It’s taken a lot of time searching, digging and money but I’ve got about 250 pieces of brass, 80,000 primers, a ton of powder and a bunch of the 143g ELDX bullets so I’m good for a while. The die set only took 3 months to get so I bought a spare set

FYI I talked to Hornady yesterday and he told me if they stopped taking new orders that it would take them 4 plus months of running fully staffed 24 hours a day just to fill the current back orders but their currently running on a skeleton crew and getting farther behind every day. He also said they expect things to steadily get worse and the hunting season of 21 is going to be massively worse for finding ammo than 2020 was and best case scenario they feel it’s going to be over 2 years before things even remotely start calming down and that’s without Big Joe throwing a major monkey wrench it things. Better find what you need now or be screwed come hunting season Personally I feel what he said was pretty reasonable to expect, I was kind of thinking the same thing myself and he just confirmed my thoughts.
