I use the run flat tires with kevlar - in deep south texas so lots of thorns, etc.

Do any of you guys run these and if so do you still put the green slime type stuff in them? If so what is the best fix a flat stuff to put in the tires? I have always heard there are better options than the green slime

I don't use run flat tires, but I do use Multi-seal sealant and have for a very long time. I use it in both South Texas with the thorns and in West Texas with greasewood(think whitebrush/bee bush) and thorns. If run flats with Kevlar are that good and that expensive why would one need a sealant in them? confused2

Multi Seal HD 2500 is the absolute best I've found.

It will permanently seal and fix a 3/4" hole.

It also doesn't have to be renewed. Most sealants dry out and become useless. Not Multi Seal. One application.

I run it in my tractor tires for my brush control business... shredding bad areas with batwing shredders. One fresh cut stob can ruin your day. No flats in two years... (knock on wood) smile

the run flats are that good - I have run them for years with great results - the sealant is just for overkill honestly - I am too old to walk the 7 miles to camp from the back of our lease!

One more thing... Don't mix sealants.

They can be made of different compounds, and can not get along well with each other. They can clump up in a ball and be useless.

If you already have a sealant in a tire, either renew with the same, or dismount the tire, clean it, and add the other kind.

I ran my Essex Surefoot for over 12 years without an issue ... Kevlar run flat ... I had to put a little air in from time to time (6 months apart) but they worked well without any type of sealant. That was running all types of terrain from rocks, cactus, mesquite, bogs, sand, yaupon stalks (LO son liked to batwing thru them, leaving nasty stobs/stumps), etc. about a month ago in very deep Trinity river bottom mud, I caught something that ripped one of the lugs, leaving about a 2-3 inch gash at the base of the thread, I suspect after 12 years the UV / dry rot took it's toll. I too run Multi Seal in my tractors and swear by it there, I dumped some into the Essex in hopes it would seal but the hole/gash was just too large.

the other thread we discussed and looks like we ended up with close to the same replacement tires ... and no I won't put sealant in those. That's why I put on the run-flat tires and paid the extra cost.

Tire Ject has been the best I've used in mesquite and cactus country out here.

Put 600+ hours on regular stock mule tires with green slime in them. Carry a plug kit and cheap 12volt pump. Have mostly been off road running over anything in the way and have never had to walk back. just put a new set on, need to get some slime in them.

This is good stuff too.

I still run it in lots of tires.

I got mine on my RTV last weekend and ran the snot out of it in east Texas. They seemed to work very well except for one seepy hillside with muck in the tire tracks and I had to spin them really fast to keep from getting stuck. I dropped it in 4 wheel drive before the end of the muck to make sure and crawled out ... but I still have the Essex Surefoot on the front. My son had similar on his CA Defender when he bought it and says you just need to spin them fast in the muckier stuff.

the tread on my news ones appear to be the same as my old Essex - so we will see when the mud time comes! I do carry a portable winch just in case
