I finally had to resort to buying 100 rounds of the Wolf steel case ammo last week for 90 cents a round.
It looks like 6.5 Grendel ammo is now reaching the critical stage since I now see no Wolf available as of today.
I guess the 6.5 Grendel hunters are in trouble unless you have a ton of ammo in storage.

It's a niche cartridge, so it will be behind .223 Rem., .308Win., 9mm, .45ACP, et al. in the production queue.

It looks like 6.5 Grendel ammo is now reaching the critical stage since I now see no Wolf available as of today. It has been difficult to come by for a while now. Every time a bit comes on the market, it is being purchased. It's a niche cartridge, so it will be behind .223 Rem., .308Win., 9mm, .45ACP, et al. in the production queue.
So everything not former or current milsurp is niche? It is funny that you say that given that it is still being shipped. Ammo companies are producing a variety of ammo right now. It doesn't matter if it is a niche round or not because everything they produce is being sold.

Niche meaning you cannot find 6.5 Grendel guns or ammunition everywhere (even before the panic) like you can guns chambered in .223, .308, .270, .30-06, etc.
Production may continue but you may never see a glut of it at the retail level.

The Academy by me gets it almost weekly in the Hornady Black variety. It comes on Tuesdays.

Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Nothing is ubiquitous right now.

And read again what I said. That all depends on where you shop. Also, they are still making it, LOL. I managed 3 more boxes (store limit for all ammo) last week from Academy.

The Grendel is not as obscure as it was at one time and more manufactures are making it. Sure the cartridges chambered in the most guns like named above sell more ammo than many others but Ammo companies are still churning out lots of ammo that is not in the ones listed.
There is a lot more offerings in the Grendel than there was for the 7mm-08 when it came out and for quite a few years after it was dropped on the market by Remington. Like the Grendel it took a while to get going, but with now 3 manufactures of bolt actions and lots of ARs being made in it the little Grendel is gaining in popularity and with that ammo offerings. Hornady, Federal and before Remington went down there were offerings from all. Nosler also loads for the Grendel now. I know I am forgetting some. For over a year the little niche cartridge was in the top listing of ammo searches on ammo seek which s not bad for a niche cartridge.
I roll my own and have more bullets, brass, power and primers for it than I will use up in several years.
