It’s been a slow year in my neck of the woods. Normally at a minimum you can count on a wood duck or two to cruise through but even they have been non existent. Well hunted this morning and got 3 Greys and a GWT. Driving around today every tank was holding at a minimum of 4 to 6 birds....Which never happens! I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning. Can’t wait to get back out there tomorrow

Has anyone seen Mallards this year?

I hunt down on the SE Coastal Marshes and on the Bay a little bit. This year has been my second worst season since I started duck hunting. Last year was my best season by far. I think it just never got cold enough. I saw a report that said all of the great lakes still have a considerable amount of open water which is very unusual.

Had our first groups at our farm this last weekend.

Other than that, all the tanks around us have been empty. Normally a good tell/tell sign. A few weeks back, they were loaded. And we were killing and seeing alot more ducks. Seems to have dwindled the last 2 weeks.

I can tell you one thing, if Saturday sucks this weekend, Im hanging it up for the season and dropping that Skeeter in Lake Fork on Sunday!!!!!!!!!

Yes, best year for Mallards we have had in the last 8 seasons. We've been killing them since opening day. Mallards and gadwall have been our top 2 birds harvested this year, with Mallards leading the way.

This has been my worst season, without a doubt. Teal season started spectacular but after that, it fizzled out. Hunted the best fronts we had, put in time scouting, made adjustments as necessary but it never panned out for any great hunts. Still had a fun time this season.
