Lot of stuff in this area and beautiful beaches and water:
If you camp Big Lagoon SP is right close to Perdido Key Bridge. Johnson Beach (to the east) very few people. Your central to Dauphin Island, Fort Morgan, Orange Beach, Gulf Shore, Gulf Shores SP with nice cabins, or the new four star GSSP lodge near the fishing pier (under repair).

Pensacola Beach, Destin, (tourist traps) are nice but crowded and traffic heavy.

Fort Pickens National Sea Shore Federal Park also has several camp site for primitive, to trailer, & RV sites and crowds are generally light. You do have the easy access to Bay side or the Gulf side and the Pensacola Pass. GL and Happy Anniversary

Great info, both of ya. Thank you. In case I ever need to see my granddaughter at a half-way point and try my best to expose her to camping. I'd break out all our gear and it'd probably be my last time to do it. Her daddy's a city boy and, I quote, "A cat person." bang

Some of my Scottish ancestors landed in the bay to the west, in 'Bama, many moons ago ('much as I hate admitting I have 'Bama history.)

When I mentioned Bolivar, it appears that we were a bit further down from, or past, Crystal Beach, though I’m not sure where Crystal Beach ends and another beach starts. The beach was mostly deserted. I was very surprised that there weren’t many people. I didn’t spend any time on the beach, since I was there to spend time with an old friend that had terminal cancer and not much time left. We drank a lot of Makers Mark, as I remember.

I suppose part of the reason the beach was empty was that it’s a long drive from Houston to Winnie and then south to the beach. You have to want to go there and stay a while.

And just across the bay from Jennie Sealy hospital, in Galveston.

If you decide on Hawaii, shoot me a message. The trick is knowing where and when. Spent many days on beaches very with very few people. Just takes a little local knowledge.

Having grown up in CC, I understand the comments about Port A., that's why I do South Padre now. No comparison between the two, not allowing cars to drive on South Padre beaches keeps them much nicer than Padre Island. My favorite U.S. beaches are Destin or Myrtle Beach, affordable but do draw crowds. Lots to do at either.

We went to Watercolor/Seaside in October and loved it...we will probably make it a yearly trip.

Least crowded places we have visited are Turks and St. Lucia.

Galveston isn't too terrible if you go to the south end of the island...we've stayed in Pointe West a few times and it's never been too crowded.

Cabo = tip of Pacific Ocean, water is on colder side. Beach and sand are beautiful just hard to get in the water. On the other hand, great golfing and deep sea fishing locale. Also great dunes four wheeling tours...Just be prepared to drop some $$$$

I loved key west but I agree not many beaches - northwest Florida is better

It was a special trip, my honeymoon. You could snorkel to a reef 300 yards straight out.

My wife and I are beach lovers for sure! We have spent the last 43 years exploring a lot of the beautiful beaches starting with Mexico then Jamaica, Dominican, St Thomas, St John, and several I am missing but our travels stopped when we went to St Martin. Smallest island in the world owned by two countries ( half is French and half is Dutch) 39 square miles and 37 BEACHES. We spent the last 14 years going back to here only. Renewed our 35th vows on the beach and had our taxi driver from our first trip stand with us. If you decide to go here we can hook you up with some great people to make your trip hassle free !

Seriously though, what's the appetite for international? I know you mentioned that she is not down with Mexico but I was in Cabo San Lucas this Summer and I'd say they were going to extreme measures to keep things clean and make sure tourists felt comfortable. I was also in Jamaica in November and can say the same. The takeaway is that tourist areas need people and that won't happen if they don't feel safe.

Oh you're preaching to the choir there. I've looked at Cabo San Lucas and want to go. I think she just heard something somewhere on how "bad Mexico is" and is scared of it. As for Jamaica, we stopped there on a cruise and I wasn't a fan. Maybe it was just the area we stopped at, but we took a bus a pretty good ways from the ship for some ziplining. Talk about a sketchy bus ride lol. One dude on a motorcycle had fallen down and layed in the middle of the street for as long as we could see him. Not a single person stopped or even slowed down to help him. They just kept zooming around him and haulin arse.

Grand Cayman Islands was nice. I'll have a look there as well.

Try Cayman Brac or Little Cayman. Been there a couple of times and at different times of the year, and never had crowds.

Honestly, didn't even think about that. A friend of mine shark fishes down there. I'll definitely pitch it to her, but she may want a little more white sand / blue water feel, unless it's just completely different than Port A. It's not all that far from it.

I know a guy, that has about a 20 ft camper. Older but decent. Has a second set of wheels that fit it, big balloon tires... pulls it to the coast, changes the tires, carries it WAY down the beach, and stays a week....

Now that sounds like a trip right there.

We've been to Cabo several times, actually have a time share that has more than paid for itself. Cabo doesn't have the best beaches. If you go there, for the best beach experience you have to leave Cabo. Yeah, rent a car and plan on spending a day on a drive to Todo Santos. Cool town and grab lunch at The Hotel California. No crowds, good food and great vibe. Leave there around noon or 1 and on the drive back to Cabo spend the rest of the day at a great beach, Ceritos. Or skip Todo Santos and do the whole day at Ceritos, it's less than an hour from Cabo. It is one of the better beaches I've been on.

Best beach trip we went on was St. Lucia. Don't stay at a resort. We rented a small house and a car. Loaded up at the grocery store on booze and breakfast food. Lots of good stuff about ST. Lucia. Fantastic beaches that are not crowded. Take your own snorkel gear, you'll use it every day. The locals are friendly and speak English. You won't be hassled every ten minutes to buy something like in Mexico. You can eat in the local places and they are very good. We were there a week and spent two entire days on the same beach with service, not crowded at all. It was perfect there. We went on an island hopping excursion for a day, sailed to three different snorkel spots and beaches. That was great. If you settle on St. Lucia, hit me back and I'll load you up with details. A week in St. Lucia wasn't as expensive as it may sound. We actually don't like resorts. Renting an Air BNB or VRBO works out great. Breakfast in your own place is convenient and if you have a great house with a view on Marigot Bay like we did it's better there anyway. We only eat two meals a day so a late lunch or dinner out is easy, lots of good places.

All that said, for what you are after, it would be Florida. A lot of good places have been suggested.

Wow, wasn't expecting quite the response to this. I checked on the ones up until Friday (went hunting this weekend with spotty service), and am currently adding them to my list of places to check out. There's definitely some great options yall pointed out and I'll be showing them all to the bride.

Cabo (not San Jose del Cabo). Trips week before Thanksgiving and week before Christmas. We go a few times a year. Actually felt safer there than at home in DFW and my wife is on the complete extreme side of COVID awareness and not wanting any humanity. Key is to go to a high end place but airport, Cabo marina and town were all COVID aware and attentive to tourists. However if laying on beach is your thing then Cabo not best choice. Rent a jeep and drive up to Ceritos beach to surf and have a cold drink, then head on up to Todos Santo to visit the arts, Hotel California and Tequilia Sunrise bar across the street. San Jose on Thursday evenings is art walk in the square. the square is blocked off and lots of art, music and wine bars to stroll around. Lots to do, zipline, atv, Baha truck, sailing and fishing can be incredible. We have been many different time of the year for last 20 years. We just relax at the pools and hit our favorite local dinner places. If you golf there are lots of great courses but expensive.

Get a private bungalow in Nevis, Belize orBora Bora with open shower/open bedrooms to the beach and water.
