Anyone else? I will be using my Franchi Affinity with full choke and Boss ammo because Bizmuth will work through a full choke. Now all I need are ducks at the lease

Been going with the 20 for the past 2 seasons. The only time it sucks is when there is high wind, and the ducks are just working further out. Feel like that is the only time I wish I had the 12. Also - when you have the chance to shoot geese and ducks.

I haven't shot anything but a 28 in 3 years. Have killed many cranes, ducks, and geese with it.

Been using a Browning Citori 20 ga for 30 years. I've shot bunches of Dove, Duck, Quail; sometimes more than my friends using 12 ga.
If you are going for duck use 3in mags.

What Hunt Dog said...3" 20 gauge and 2 3/4" 12 gauge are almost identical ballistically...

I love to shoot a 20. Doing some work at the pattern board will pay off when you start shooting 3” shells out of a 20 for ducks.

A 20 will do the trick Guy. Shooting Bismuth will get you pretty close to what we used to do with lead back in the day and really bring a 20 to life.

Lots of duck hunters think firing 3 shots and missing with a 12 ga is much better than hitting with a 20 ga o/u. I never could follow their line of thinking.

I enjoy mine. A 20 3" boss shell shooting number #4 is very close to a12 gauge 3# shooting #2 shot.

3/4ths of these ducks were killed with by 28ga guns, even when the wind was gusting into the 30s. I have seen them killed with 410s in ideal conditions. Ducks don't care if they are killed by pellets launched by 12 or 410, they only care if they are on target. Pattern boards and practice are your friends

I've been using a 28ga for 5+ years now on ducks. Hevi-shot thru a 28ga almost isn't fair.

Last 3 birds on 1/13 of a 4 man limit with 28s. Last bird shot was mine at 30-35 yards. I had to let him separate from the group, so I didnt kill more than one.

I will say. My wife shoots a 20g. Yildiz O/U Youth model cause it fits her nice. I shot it twice this year at ducks and stoned both of them. Her gun does not fit me that well but I do think 20's are deadly shooting guns! I've considered it myself, but man its hard to put the SBE down. I am planning on taking my Winchester 101 O/U 12g. these last 2 weekends for fun. So we will see how that goes.

I've been shooting a M2 20 gauge for the last three seasons now and haven't noticed a dip in efficiency. I shoot regular steel 3" #3's or #4's through a Patternmaster and have never looked back.

I have no doubt a 20 ga will kill dux just fine. I watched my son and several others to do over the years with regular steel shot. If I ever have a need I wouldn't hesitate, but I ain't gonna try to fix what ain't broke.

Oh Kay this one was a surprise, on another board they are talking about a 20 ga. SBE.

I just bought a Stoeger 3020 in Max 5 for teal next year and put a patternmaster on it as well. Gonna use it for big ducks too.

I think Benelli already makes that gun in the SBE3..............I bet thats a sweet gun!

The Franchi Affinity is still a better option, cheaper, oversize controls and a larger bore, quicker and easier to clean, cheaper Mobil chokes and the only time you have to remove the buttstock is to change the cast and drop.

Grew up shooting grandpa's Model 12 20gauge. Bought my first 20 gauge close to 20 years ago, Browning Gold Hunter. Picked up a Ruger Red Label 20 gauge about 7 years ago. I sold both of those when I finally got a Beretta 3901 20 gauges last month. I shoot 20 gauge for most everything. Right now it's more about what shells I can find more than anything. I might have to switch to 28 gauge because those are the only shells I can find.

David....have you shot the 20 in the Franchi? Wondering your thoughts and likes about it. Buddy of mine is shooting the 12g. 3.5 Affinity, I think, and said he absolutely loves the gun.
