Reading the other post on old reloading equipment started me wondering.

My father had a lot of reloading stuff that I have started going thru..

There is a large amount of powder and primers. They have always been kept in an air conditioned house and not subjected to heat or cold. The powder is un-opened cans of IMR 4198 and Vihtavuort OY N135 and N140.

I have not really looked at the primers but they are in a large plastic box

Since everything has been kept inside, would the powder and primers still be good?

There also is a large number of .22 bullets, .222 and .22-250 new brass and once used brass.

Thoughts

Its is likely just fine if it was climate controlled.

Unopened power in a climate controlled house would probably outlive your father and you. Most likely the primers would too. I would not be afraid to use it.

I have been told in general that those conditions are fine for nearly indefinite storage, especially any primers and unopened powders. Asked around, both online and in person, before committing to buying a bunch of powder. Apparently if the powder smells like ammonia, then it's a sign that it's gone bad.

Powder smells fine on the opened can of IMR, it's full to the top. Others don't want top open and ruin the seal.

I know black powder has a shelf life of for ever.

Goal is get an inventory of all of it and then sell or trade it off. Don't care about reloading.

If any of the .22 bullets are Sierra 63gr semi points, shoot me a pm please. Possibly interested in some of the 22-250 brass depending on pricing as well.

Price will be reasonable, would rather be fair than dicker.

Need to go to the ranch to see how much brass there is, both .222 and 22-250.

Should have things wrapped up in a week or so.

Interested in the primers and don’t mind driving if they are at reasonable prices. Lemme know thanks.

I am very interested in the N135 and N140 powder and will take a can of each off your hands if you want to sell any. Since you don't list prices, shoot me a PM and lets see what kind of arrangements we can make.

Y'all are worse than a bunch of buzzards on a fresh kill. This isn't even the classifieds. Let him post for sale in the for sale section. Geez...
