Not only are home prices soaring, new vehicle prices are stupid, but have y’all priced a trailer lately? I inquired about an 18x83 tandem axle and was quoted $3,995 for some brand I’d never heard of. I asked if that was a 10k or 14k and he replied 7k with pipe top eek2 eek2 eek2 Those things were $2,000 last year. He said it would be $4,800 for a 10k and $5,600 for a 14k loco

I bought a 14' tandem axle trailer a few months ago and it was $2,600. That same trailer last year was maybe $1800. 4 years ago i bought a 16' pipe trailer for $1295

Yep, I tried to buy a new 30k dual tandem last week and I was priced $24,000 for the same trailer I purchased in 2019 for $16,000, I’m not sure how we survive this mess financially. It’s snowballing into a nightmare for me having to buy parts and equipment with soaring prices.

I've got an 18 footer I'm wanting to sell. Bought it from blue 4 years ago or so. Now that my house is built I never use it.

I don't know what that axles are I'll look of you're interested. It's a Kearney.

This made me curious so I just checked on a trailer I bought for work back in 2017. Paid 8k then, same dealer now is 10,500. Could be worse I guess but that would be equivalent to over a 12k increase if we were talking a 40k truck

Not going to try to inject any sense into this convo, but you think maybe getting rid of the cheaper Chinese parts and steel has made an impact on our prices for things such as a medium duty trailer?

I remember reading thread where people have said they would gladly pay more for american jobs and american parts so americans can have jobs over the chinese...

And now we are going to complain and say this is going to crush the economy? Come’on guys, we are better than this.

I’m guessing it’s supply and demand. Material costs have increased because of Covid due to reduced supplies while a lot of things were shut down. And yes you are also seeing reduced supplies from China and other places although that’s coming back. But there is a lag of lead times and availability.

To be determined

Those trailer manufacturers also lost their cheap illegal labor during the last 4 years.

Guess what happens to prices when the trailer builders and dealers have to pay $15hr to the snot nose high school kid sweeping his shop floor? Labor costs across the board getting ready to take a sharp jump.

These trailers are from a no name manufacturer with no name axles. The trailer I currently have has been a great trailer and I expect the same from the next one, I use them 2-4 times a week and generally on roads that resemble a plowed field. I will pay for quality, I won’t pay for a no name price gouge

Yup. I liked the idea, I just lack the time to make it happen.

Not junk isn’t cheap. So don’t complain about buying not junk for a fair price.
