And Bannister WMA. Thinking about taking the boat down to Sam Rayburn to get some winter crappie fishing in and in our spare time doing some squirrel hunting. Any tips?

Every time we go squirrel hunting in the ANF, we don't fare too well.
We tend to see way more squirrels while deer hunting.
So my tip is to go deer hunting.

Well if I had shot every squirrel I have seen or been annoyed by while deer hunting my life total would be three times at least what it is. Deer season will be over sadly, going the first part of February.

I know it’ll be over, but you gotta tell yourself you’re going deer hunting.
Maybe even yell it real loud when you get outta the truck.
The squirrels...they know.

Hah I remember bow hunting years ago at Gus Engling WMA from a tree stand about 20 feet up. They treated me like I was part of the tree, fighting and having all kinds of fun making lots of noise. I would love to hunt that spot for squirrels but they have really cut back on the hunting there.
