We went out to our property for the last weekend of deer season. It was just the wife and I. We do this every year to make sure we have enough deer meat for the year. We eat a lot of chili and spaghetti. One thing I really like about hunting with the AR15 is you only need one lower and you can have several uppers in different calibers. My wife took her doe with her 6.8 SPC and I took one with my 300 HAM’R. I was also able to take a nice hog with my 450 Bushmaster. One thing I learned this weekend is if you are going to make a bad shot on a hog it helps to do it with a large bullet. 250gr Hornady dropped it after I hit it way too high on the back. The wife and I both shot our doe with Hornady SST rounds. Her’s was the 120gr and mine was Wilson ammo loaded with the 150gr. Both left huge exit holes and large blood trails. The pic of the blood on the tree and exit hole on the deer is from the HAM’R. Again it wasn’t the best shooting on my part but the round made up for it. I sure enjoy hunting with my ARs.
