So I’m looking to have some night sights installed on the most popular gen3 pistol on the planet... what is a fair price for install only?

I got quoted $60-80 for install only by my local smith, and with a wait at that... at that price, I’m considering just buying the pusher tool and installing them myself.

Local GS has to eat too!

Most places will do glock sights free if you buy from them

Geez, my guy did two pistols for $50. I think I gave him three $20s as it went a little harder than he anticipated (S&W M&P and a Shield).

Buy the front sight tool and do them yourself. it's not hard.

Yeah, this guy is a smith shop, not a retailer, so I figured prices would more closely reflect the difficulty of the work or the time involved... They are the shop one LGS uses for their smithing work, I haven’t had a chance to check with the other LGS due to their odd schedule conflicting with mine.

Has anyone here done the work themselves without a pusher tool? I do have a bench vise and punches, but I figured it’s probably easier with a purpose-built tool. The front sight seems simple enough, but the back sight is what holds me back.

My guy said he uses the tool because he’s seen too many people tear up their sights and/or slide using punches and such. As tight as mine were, it would have been bad without the tool. YMMV.

I decided to buy the tool and do it myself. Watched a video or two, paid attention to directions and it was easy peasy.

Don’t do it with a punch, either pay someone or buy the sight pusher

I bought the tool and installed them myself. It was easy and if I recall the tool was cheap. Don’t remember exactly how much it was several years ago.

I bought night sights at GT Distributors and they installed at no charge.

$60-$80 for sight install is ridiculous.
I wouldn’t pay more than $30 max for an immediate install. $20 would be a fair price. You can also do it yourself. It’s pretty easy, especially with Glocks.

Academy gun counter guy recommended the local gun range, so I called them up and they said $25 for install... but I don’t know if they use a pusher or punches... so I ordered the MGW Glock-specific tool since I’ll probably only ever put night sights on, and carry Glocks. $90ish on Midway, and probably will outlive us all.
