I sat Saturday evening and Sunday morning without seeing a single deer and thought my Deer season was over. As I was heading back to camp to load up, I caught a flash of something moving inside the tree line. I stopped the truck, grabbed my gun and took off. I finally found the deer after about a 60 yard stalk. I actually didn’t see her right away, but as I was scanning with my scope I saw the sunshine hitting her fur. She we facing away and I had no shot. I moved to my right for a quartering shot and in the process, I stepped on a branch. Maybe it was the stillness of the moment, but the snap of the branch was extremely loud. When the branch snapped she spun and stared straight at me. She stomped and flipped her tail while staring straight at me, so I knew the gig was up. I didn’t waste any time putting a 6.8 120grain SST right in the center of her chest. She ran about 20 yards and piled up. Never stalked a deer before, but now I can check it off my list.
