About 18 years ago I had a deer feeder that had a clock and ran off one aa battery. Lasted all year on one battery. It would somehow trip something, the bottom of the feeder would swing open, and the corn would dump out. Then the bottom would swing back closed and the corn would stop flowing.

Do any of y’all remember having one of these? I’m wanting to build one myself.

How did it work? I can’t find anything on the internet about it.

I have heard of Ghost Deer Feeders being the dump type but not sure how those work.

here is an article on one a guy made using an auger style mechanism ... Tombstone Feeder

I have seen some homemade ones that have a hinged plate connected to a 12vdc push/pull solenoid actuator but not finding anything online

That Tombstone feeder sure is different.... I can't imagine dumping a pile of corn that big on a regular occasion. Their PoV that a feeder can't look like a feeder I find interesting as well, I didn't know corn really came from rocks.

I had one a long time ago ( maybe 20 yrs) it was made where one end would fill up the when the timer would go off it would trip using the weight of the corn and flip back to the other side which was the same and refill the compartment. I always thought it was a fish feeder that might go on the end of a dock, didn't get a box or package ,the wife picked it up at a garage sale, but it worked good till somebody decided they needed it more than I did.

That’s exactly what I was trying to describe. I wonder where I could get one again?

There were a lot of timers made decades ago using a 12 hour battery clock kit from hobby shops, The power to the motor was a 6 volt battery that was controlled by a relay switch that was kicked off by the hour hand of the AA battery powered clock. The hour hand hit the switch and the powered up capacitor would dump the stored power and activate the motor. Mounted it all in GI ammo can, even the motor under the barrel.

What was the circuit, a capacitor, a relay switch, a switch and a potentiometer. What order and wiring diagram??? It has been 30 years since I built one, I looked, and have not found the plans.

I had a couple of those back in the late 70's or early 80's. I have no idea what I did with them. Probably threw them away.
