I’m at that point where I need to get a good to great quality annealer set up. What do you guys suggest/use?
Thanks!

AMP...most consistent
Bench Source/Giraud annealers can be managed to be as consistent by batching brass but I never really liked the open flame thing inside the house

Good luck, I started on a torch and socket, then to BenchSource and finally to AMP...if mine broke this evening, I’d order another one before I went to bed.

https://annealeez.com/ works for me but Judd's recommendation is the best unit out there.

I've been kicking around this idea for a while too. Haven't decided what to do with my 200 pieces of Lapua brass on my 4th firing. I think I'm convinced annealing often is something I will need more of in the future.

Has anyone tried building their own?

I just bought an annealeez, haven't received it yet. I bought the small wheel kit to go with it so I can anneal my 6.8 brass.

Don’t misspell that one when googling.

I’ve always just bought more brass, but now that I’m shooting more again and brass is hard to come by I’m looking into this as well.

I love the AMP system, but the price is way too high. I used my buddies annealeez and it seems to work pretty good.

I use the anneal rite which works for me. If I competed and annealed a lot of brass then the AMP is what I would use.

Not yet but have considered for a long time. Between the collection of stuff in my garage and in the shop at work, I could do it for about $20.

Propane torch and my hand, just a little heat is all you need.

Yep and put that piece of brass down as soon as you feel heat!

I have a basic Lee pot, hooked up to a PID, filled with nitrate/nitrite salt mix, set at 900 degrees, dip cases for 5 seconds.
I've been handling cases with a cleverly modified salad fork.
I drop the annealed cases in water to get the salt off and usually run through a sonic cleaner.

This thread cost me $275! Ordered the annealeez. Not horrible if you can extend life of pricey brass.

I've been using a Ballistics Edge 360 that I purchased about 15 years ago. I thought I had some pictures of it, but I will need to add them. It is a three torch table-mounted annealer with a case feeder. A shop in Castroville made them, but they seem to have closed their doors. It has been an outstanding machine.

I wanted to say that you should consider using these Tempilaq products; Thinner, 350°, and 750°. What the two temperature products do is indicate when the given temperature is reached. These products are used to set up the annealer and its timing/heat before starting the brass through the machine, any machine. In respect to annealing, a bead of the 750° is placed inside the case neck. If the case is rotating in the annealer, use a couple of beads, so at least one of the beads remains in sight. As the temperature is reached, the color disappears. It is at this point that you want the case to leave the heat source. If 750° is not achieved, you haven't done anything to the brass.

The 350° is placed just above the web on the outside of the case, and you do not want to see this "dot" disappear in the annealing cycle. I use three or so test cartridge cases to make sure I'm in the heat range. These samples are good for about three setups.

The thinner is to keep the product in the bottle from aging. I've had my bottles for as long as I've owned the annealer. I shake them once in a while to see if they need a drop of thinner, but I've never gotten close to using up the 2 oz bottles.

AMP is kinda like a Dillon. Sold my first one for what I paid bought the new model. Pricey no doubt but the bestest easiest way.

Built this one and it works well.
Found a design on the web somewhere and went for it.
Made a few changes to fit materials that I had laying around.

Thank you, Sir!

I found the original plans I used to build the annealer and uploaded it to my server so folks can access it.

I have an AMP ordered so I don’t have any real world experience with them yet, I will say anyone that’s close by is welcome to use it though if they need to. I’m all about sharing and learning from others in the process...
