Looking at doing away with propane heaters and moving to a wood burning stove.
The thing that interests me is the fan that is heat driven. It sits on top of the stove. I didn’t even know that kind of deal existed until I started looking at stoves.

I’m leaning toward the stove that has a clear ceramic door. I think it would make a good nightlight.
Never had one so any and all advise is welcome.

That fan is heat driven. Takes a while for it to start up. As far as it producing a volume of air, no it doesn't. It is basically decorative period. I have one on one of my 2 wood stoves. My ranch house is a little over 3120 sq ft. I have central air and heat and a LOT of firewood so I use the wood stoves to heat. That being said one of the stoves I have will heat the entire house. If I fire up both and really get them cranked up, it gets hot. If you like, PM me and I can give you more details. I think it's the way to go provided you have a good supply of wood.

We are only looking to heat a couple hundred square feet at the moment. Just thought that anything the fan could do would be a plus

When I use the wood stove, I get it going good start pushing heat then turn on the ceiling fan to circulate the warm air . I also have a small fan on a stand to push the warm air to the far end of the room. This is about 900 sf with half being vaulted ceiling.

I bought one for our cabin it’s 1,234sf heated.
It works great. Once you learn to damper it down at night which is easy it will heat all night and when it gets too hot just open the door and it will suck the heat out.
We must have everything just right because it doesn’t smoke a bit.
I bought ours from TSC 4 years ago.
And they need a fraction of the wood a fireplace would use.

^^^^^^^Same experience. I bought ours at TSC. It's a 'Vogelzang' cigar draw. I love it. Heats up and draws immediately with no smoke in the cabin. Think I paid around $275 without heavy gauge vent pipe. Vent pipe and escutcheon with chimney stack probably cost another $200. Great value if you have lots of wood to feed it.

My hearthstone stove has a built in fan runs off a thermostat comes on when it gets to temp and shuts down when it cools down.

That stove will burn you out of the house if you want it to. In stoves you get what you pay for, I'd buy once cry once if I was you. I wouldn't buy a cheapo from tractor supply. My 2 cents.

Our stove is a Harman. Heats our 1,700 sq ft home very well. As a bonus, it has a removable grilling grate that we use constantly. The pics are this morning, we used last night's hot coals to cook bone-in ribeyes for steak and eggs and then chicken to warm up for supper. If the electricity goes out in a storm, we can cook with pans on the top of the stove and/or the grill. You can see the coffee pot to the right in the picture.

I added the last pic to show the entire stove. Sorry about the mess under the stove, I made a mess emptying the ashes.

The front glass door is great for watching the fire and lights up pretty good at night.

We have two of the heat activated fans. Those plus ceiling fans circulate the heat well. The fans show in the picture behind the top door.
