I do not believe that street resellers are having a huge impact on the overall ammo supply. The opportunists are a product of panic buyers, not the cause of the shortage.
They are trading their time for money and they continue only because panicked buyers support them. They are selling it, so that ammo is in fact getting to buyers.
Some may argue that they are "holding" the ammo while looking for customers. I would respond that the number of rounds being delayed by resellers is tiny compared to the overall demand.
At the risk of being repetitive, we live in a volatile world. All of us should take some personal responsibility for being reasonably prepared for shortages of all types. They will come at some point, so only you can decide what you need.

Just how much you need is like ammo - it's up to you to know your needs and plan for that.
This is the question....how much do we need? I know some shoot WAY more than me, but I have come to the conclusion I have different levels of "needs/wants" with different guns/calibers. Tier 1 - 2000+ rounds; Tier 2 - 500+ rounds; Tier 3 - 100+ rounds. I am behind on some and ahead on others, but I have a plan now and will adjust as needed..

Prices are starting to dip on the resale market. 9mm is probably the best caliber to watch and I have seen hollow points dipping as much as 25% over the last few days. Pretty soon the risk vs reward side of reselling will reach a point that it isn’t worth it anymore. Without anything big happening in the near future I think the flippers will probably find something new to start pimping.

I was about to come here and ask if anyone has seen any ammo. I am not standing in lines, so I definitely don't get to see what all comes out. But...I haven't seen any in my few stops at Academy the last week.

This cycle has repeated itself every 5 years or so for over 25 years now. Just like the AR panics. The big gun and ammo manufacturers love this stuff. They have sold more ARs and more ammo due to these panics than they would have sold in 100 years of normal markets.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

I agree with you but I’m curious what type of impact this one will have on them long term since the markets absolutely flooded right now with guns and ammo of which a ton will be sold heavily discounted in the near future I’m betting. Not that I need any more of either but who could refuse to buy discounted man toys lol. If that happens which I’m pretty sure it’s going to it’s going to hammer the same people running full tilt right now and all they jobs their currently holding. Time will tell I guess,

It isn't complicated.
- The ammo shortage is driven by a very high demand. - The current crazy high demand is driven by both new gun owners and panic. Panic being the key. - When the ammo buying public feels like they have "enough" the demand will taper.
Remember that flippers are not sitting on billions of rounds causing the shortage. They are moving ammo to the panic buyers.

A new one just showed up in the classified 12 ga. shotgun shells for sale. I'll leave it at that.
I guess from now on a lot of people will never be caught short again.

I have bought a little powder and bullets to fill in where needed but just enough for next 12 months. Now just planning to sit on sidelines and see if market for those items comes back strong due to no one having primers. My feeling is primers will be an issue for several years so demand for other items will be lowered. I could be wrong.

The first time gun owners, all those new 12 gauge pumpsters out there, I think fell back on turkey shells when the buckshot and slugs got scarce. A bunch of guys in panic mode looking for turkey shells in MO right now, for actual turkey hunting. Right now the only shotgun ammo near me is overpriced 20 gauge and 10 gauge at local hardware store and of all things, some 28 gauge shells at Walmart.

I went to the Academy by me on Thursday to get some 12 gauge bird/target shells for skeet shooting at the ranch. They had zero 12 or 20 gauge and six boxes of 28 gauge. I drove to the next Academy and the same thing, except the dozen 28 gauge boxes were on a cart behind the counter. The third Academy was the same thing, except no 28 gauge or anything else. My wife was Walmart hopping looking for some and got me the last case at her third Walmart. I never thought I would have to chase down bird shot. I have heard this same story from many people. Some of the guys that shot with us had to borrow shells as they could not find any.

Not sure when this crap will end, but I'm am tired of the price gouging on everything. You know it's bad when someone is selling a Radical Firearms AR15 for $1000. Pssst! get over yourself, quit whining. it's only an asking price. you don't like it then move on. if you don't like the price then learn to negotiate. the seller knows what they want for an item. it's your job to convince them on what they will take for it. i'm surprised how many people today do NOT have any negotiating skills. THIS exactly ---- traded horses in Oklahoma for many years. My value on something may not be yours, but someone else may think that it is not so bad and can see a future while paying that price. Guns and especially ammo will be a 'coin" of the future on the black market when paper money is not worth a damn thing.

The whole new world order is based on big government dependence, eventually the .gov will run out of legit currency and print the value out of all currency. It is almost like that happened a Century Ago and no lessons have been learned.
