My inside air handler is ‘95 vintage, my outside compressor is only a few years old. Everything works well.
The air handler has no ‘control panel’ as mentioned in WiFi thermostat install instructions, but it does have a control transformer of course.
I am trying to install a new Wyse WiFi thermostat, and after a week of flailing, I’m done.
I need/want a pro that can come to Rhome and do my install in his/her sleep.
Seriously, if my buddy Mike and I couldn’t figure it out, neither will you if you haven’t done this before.
No offense meant guys, I’m just reaching the end of my rope. I really want to smash this new thermostat against the wall.

I really was about post a "Where is Cast" thread.
If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

I installed some Honeywell wifi thermostats in my house and followed the directions to a tee. When wired up the damn heater came on and almost ran us all out of the house.
I called them and they patched me through to some expert. I gave him my whole set up and he gave me wiring directions that were completely different than what was in the manual. All worked, and has been working, perfectly.
Might be worth a call if you haven't made one yet.

did you take pics/notes of the OLD thermostat before removing? (and still have OLD stat)? that info, together with the WYSE T-stat model # , I can probably figure out remotely.

after looking online, if your system (old thermostat) used 5 wires, and the new wise is only 4 wire, you may need Wyse's 'C-wire adapter' module. My system uses 16 wires! (multi-stage duel fuel heatpump/gas with humidity control & 2nd temp sensor)

looking at that - looks like old thermostat is a simple 4-wire MECHANICAL. Note that yours uses a BLUE wire for the Y (yellow) you shouldn't have to touch anything in the blower**
New stat should easily wire right in, using the BLUE wire for Y, and other three wires color coded correctly.
** If the new stat can't grab it's power from the 4-wires, you may have to run a 5th wire (which acts like a ground, but not really a ground cause its 24vAC- the RED wire is like the 'hot') this 5th/new wire would go to the C terminal on the new stat, and prolly have to run back to your blower (if that is where the 24vAC transformer is) to the other transformer 24vAC line.

I’m sure that’s it exactly, but right now I’m in no shape to do any of that. Looking for someone to pull the wire and hook it all up for me.

Ok, going back looking at specs for the Wyse I found this: notice where I circled in yellow: your old thermostat was mechanical, and didn't need power for itself, so there was no C (common) wire from 24vAC transformer to it. Since the Wyze has electronics, it needs access to power (24vAC). The RED wire is one side of 24vAC, but you need the other side, the C (common) your 4 wires: Red-=hot 24vAC Green=fan relay White=heat relay Yellow= AC compressor relay (BLUE wire for you) so your 'missing' a 5th wire, C = common (~ground~) , to power the Wyze looks like Wyze sells (or includes??) a 'C-wire-adapter' to push power thru 4 wires, but only if you have common at the blower (24vAC transformer inside blower) Really old systems put the 24vAC transformer outside in the condenser - if so, you'll need to run the common from there if that is the case. Bolded above is the issue; hope this helps.

I checked with a local HVAC shop. They charge $49 to install thermostats, including pulling in a C wire.
He is on the way.

It took the HVAC guy a long time and he had plenty of troubles making it happen, but he stuck with it.

Yep. Didn't hurt anything but your pocketbook. I sleep a lot cooler than 76°.
