Hey folks I haven't been on line much but I thought I'd share a couple photos from yesterday morning. This Coopers Hawk has been hammering the dove on my backyard bird feeder. Very pretty bird and I really liked the shots. Take care, Baker [Linked Image]

Coop's are real hunters...Austringer's that fly Coop's will tell you...they can be the toughest hawks to fly...but they are amazing when it all comes together...they chase down prey rather than perch and watch and wait...and as "kept" birds they have to hunt...almost every single day....how cool is that !!! They are and always have been my favorite hawk/ Thanks for jogging some of my favorite memories of days afield with my friend Bill and his 2 Coop's.

I saw one hunting in my neighborhood. It would come in and fly low to flush out the dove.
would dive in and head butt the dove @ about 120mph roll them on the ground. while the dove was stunned the Coop would scoop the dove up and be gone in a blink.
You have to respect a hunter that is that smart and swift. Amazing to actually see it in action

My dog gives me the bird!

I have a raptor that comes by my backyard feeder and also hits the doves and other birds in my garden. I will have to pay closer attention to see if it is one of these. Beautiful birds for sure.

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!
